Westward Operating Instructions and Parts Manual
Study, understand, and follow all
instructions before operating this device. Do not
exceed rated capacity. Use only on hard, level
surface capable of supporting the loads. Lifting
device only. Immediately after lifting, support
vehicle with appropriate means. Do not move or
dolly the vehicle while on the jack. Ensure that the
lift point is properly centered on the jack saddle.
Lift only on areas of the vehicle as specified by
the vehicle manufacturer. No alteration of this
product is allowed. Failure to heed these warnings
may result in personal injury and/or property
damage.
Preparation
1. Before using this product, read the operator's
manual completely and familiarize yourself
thoroughly with the product, its components and
recognize the hazards associated with its use.
2. Verify that the product and application are
compatible, if in doubt call Westward Technical
Service.
3. To familiarize yourself with basic operation, locate
and turn the release valve (handle knob):
a. Clockwise until firm resistance is felt to further
turning. This is the 'CLOSED' release valve
position used to raise the load.
b. Counter-clockwise, no more than
1 full turn from closed position. This is the
'OPEN' release valve position used to lower
the load. The further the release valve is turned
counter-clockwise, the faster the load descends.
4. With ram fully lowered, remove the oil filler screw.
Check oil level. Proper oil level should be just below
the rim of the opening. Reinstall the oil filler screw.
5. Pour a teaspoon of good quality air tool lubricant into
the air supply inlet of the lift control valve. Connect
to air supply, then squeeze the lift control valve for
three seconds to evenly distribute lubricant.
NOTICE:
These models are equipped with 1/4" NPT
air couplers. If installing a different air coupler, ensure
thread tape or compound is used on connections. To
ensure dependable, trouble free operation an inline
air dryer and oiler is recommended.
6. Ensure that jack rolls freely. Raise and lower the
unloaded ram throughout the lifting range before
putting into service to ensure the jack operates
smoothly. Replace worn or damaged parts and
assemblies with genuine Omega replacement
parts only.
Bleeding/Venting Trapped Air
1. Open oil filler screw (ref. Parts illustration for location).
2. Open release valve.
3. Activate air motor to vent air.
4. Remove set screw on manifold block (ref. Parts
illustration), and use a screw driver to hold down the
check ball while very slowly pumping air motor until
oil exiting from screw hole is steady without bubbles.
5. Reinstall set screw approximately two turns into
hole (do not fully tighten).
6. Activate air motor a few additional times to vent air,
while slowly tightening set screw. Ram should start
to raise as screw is fully tightened.
7. Check oil level and reinstall filler plug.
Air Hydraulic Truck Jack
Operation
Off-center loads and loads lifted
while jack is not level may damage the jack or
cause personal injury.
LIFTING
1. Prevent inadvertent vehicle movement by fully
engaging emergency brake, and putting
transmission in park. Use wheel chocks in identical
pairs on unlifted wheels.
2. Close release valve by turning handle knob
clockwise until firm resistance is felt.
3. Position jack under load and turn extension screw
or saddle until solid contact can be made with load
to be lifted.
4. Operate jack by squeezing the air control valve
until contact with load is made. Release air control
valve temporary and ensure that saddle is centered
under load. If not, lower the load by turning handle
knob counterclockwise and reposition the lifting
point. Repeat operating process above, and pump
the load to desired height.
LOwErING
Clear all tools and personnel before lowering vehicle.
Open release valve slowly. The further the handle
knob is turned counter-clockwise, the faster the load
will descend. Maintain control of load at all times.
1. Lower the load by carefully turning the handle
knob counterclockwise.
Maintenance
NOTICE:
Use premium quality hydraulic jack oil,
avoid mixing types of oil. Do not use brake fluid,
alcohol, glycerin, motor oil, or dirty oil. Improper fluid
can cause serious internal damage to the jack
rendering it inoperative.
ADDING OIL
1. With saddle fully lowered and piston depressed,
set jack in its upright, level position and remove oil
filler screw.
2. Fill until oil is level with oil filler screw hole, reinstall
oil filler screw.
CHANGING OIL
1. For best performance and longest unit life, completely
replace the oil supply at least once a year.
2. To drain the oil, remove the filler screw.
3. Lay the jack on its side and allow the oil to run out
into a suitable drain pan. Dispose of oil in
accordance with local environmental regulations.
4. Replace with proper oil as described above.
5. Perform Bleeding/Venting Trapped Air procedure.
NOTICE: Do not allow dirt or foreign material to enter
the hydraulic system when filling.
LuBrICATION
1. When used on a daily basis, lubricate air motor
before use. If no air line oiler is used, run a 1/2
teaspoon of oil thru the air motor. Squirt or pour oil
into the hose connection nearest the air supply
connection, then run the air motor for three seconds.
2. Add lubricating oil to all pivoting sections every
3 months.
