Use the tiller with additional care in steep soils (for
example, rocky and hard ones), reduce the blades
rotation speed (velocity regulation).
Operate the tiller one step at a time, never run. If drive
the tiller faster that the recommended, it will increase
the risk of injuring, slipping and stumble.
While reversing the tiller, pay specially attention
and make sure that there is enough distance
between the blades and your feet while pushing the
tiller towards you or while reversing.
When reversing the tiller, pay attention to the
obstacles behind you.
If the machine gets stuck, turn the combustion engine
off and remove the spark plug pipe. Rise and clear the
tiller with another person's help.
Turn the combustion engine off if:
▪ It is necessary to lean the tiller for transportation;
▪ The tiller isn't under supervision;
▪ The tiller is going to be refueled. Always refuel with
the combustion engine cold;
▪ The tiller is being moved to an area without
cultivating purposes.
Turn the combustion engine off and remove the spark
plug pipe:
▪ Every time you need to adjust or assemble the
blades;
▪ Before lifting, carrying or transporting the tiller;
▪ Before checking, cleaning and repairing the tiller;
▪ If the tiller hit any strange object. Check the machine
in general and the blades and drive shaft in particular.
Ensure that there are no damages. If they exist, make
the needed repairs before operating the tiller again.
▪ If the tiller starts vibrating excessively and in an
unusual way. Find the anomaly and proceed to its
reparation. Strong vibrations usually indicate a
malfunction;
The tiller cannot be started with the drive shaft warped
nor with the blades damaged.
Maintenance and cleaning
Before cleaning, adjusting, repairing and maintenance
works:
▪ Put the tiller on a steady and firm floor;
▪ Turn the engine off and let it cool;
▪ Remove the spark plug pipe;
42
Remove the spark plug pipe from the spark plug
itself, as an accidental ignition spark can cause
burns or electric shocks. An accidental spark plug
contact with the spark plug pipe may cause an
unintentional starting of the combustion engine.
For maintenance or cleaning work only tilt the machine
backwards. If the machine is turned sideways or
forwards, damages to the combustion engine and other
parts of the machine may occur, which can cause
expensive repairs.
Let the machine cool before perform any
maintenance in the transmission area, combustion
engine, exhaust and muffler. Temperatures of 80 ° C and
higher may be reached.
Direct contact with engine oil can be dangerous, and
engine oil cannot be spilled.
VITO recommends that the oil change be performed by
a specialist.
Check the machine regularly, especially before storing it
(for example, before the winter period).
Replace worn or damaged parts immediately for safety
reasons so that the machine is always in a safe
operating condition.
Cleaning:
The machine must be carefully cleaned after use.
Release the encrusted remains with a splint of wood.
Clean the bottom of the machine with a brush and
water.
Do not use aggressive cleaning products. These
products can damage plastics and metals, damaging the
safe operation of your machine.
The tiller's bottom (all parts underneath the safety
plate) can be cleaned with a high-pressure washer or
with a steam cleaning machine. Keep a minimum
distance of 1m and never direct jets of water directly to
the support points and seals, in particular, do not direct
the jets to the gasket between the transmission
crankcase and the safety plate.
In order to avoid fire risks, the cooling air vents, cooling
fins and exhaust area should be free of grass, straw,
moss, leaves or grease.
Maintenance:
Only maintenance work described in this instruction
manual may be carried out; all other work must be
performed by an official distributor.
