Use of the SI-TESTER directly on the ESE :
Using the SI-TESTER with the telescopic pole
SI-TESTER-POLE
Deploy the SI-TESTER-POLE until it reaches the tip of the lightning terminal to be checked,
then place the metal cone, in contact to the tip of the lightning terminal.
Connect using the test lead (black wire on the photo below), the tester to the down conductor of
the lightning terminal.
Connect the lead of the SI-TESTER-POLE (white wire in the photo below), to the tester (red).
The red test lead will not be used for this test.
Follow the SI-TESTER procedure by pressing the 2 buttons.
Operation
The SI-TESTER injects a voltage pulse on the SIXXI and determines its state as a function
of the amplitude of the current flowing and its duration.
For the duration of the test, the <Bat> indicating the state of the battery and his led in
yellow color should light up permanently.
If this light flashes intermittently, it is necessary to change the battery before carrying out
the lightning terminal test.
It should be noted that in the case where the tester is not connected, or badly connected,
to the lightning terminal (possible in the case of deposit due to various pollution, smoke,
corrosive chemicals or others), the result of the test will be bad, resulting in the flashing
red light <Default> The same applies if the test outputs of the tester are short-circuited.
The contact between the connection clamps and the metal parts of the lightning terminal
must be good enough.

The red conductor is to be connected, using alligator clips, to
the point of the lightning conductor.
The black conductor is to be connected, using the alligator
clips on the base of the lightning conductor, to the mast or to
the earth conductor of the lightning conductor.
The test is carried out by pressing the 2 buttons with the
nVent logo present on the housing (with both hands so as not
to touch the lightning terminal during the test) for a period of
approximately 6 seconds, until the result appears of the test
resulting in the flashing light:
• Green led <OK>, the lightning terminal is operational
or
• Red led <Default>, the lightning terminal is defective.
Do not touch the tip of the lightning
terminal during the test.
