Installation
Step 1
The locking shackles are for use on tools
with enlarged ends or for handles with
drilled holes such as hose on hammers and
other handled type tools. Verify the C-Clip
is installed on the pin prior to installing.
It will fit loosely around the pin groove.
Step 2
With the shackle apart either align the holes
of the shackle with the tool handle holes
or install the shackle over the wrench.
Step 3
Insert the pin and engage the threads using
a straight or flat end screw driver. Continue
rotating the pin clockwise. While installing
the pin, resistance will be felt as the c-clip
starts to enter the hidden groove in the bore
at which time you may hear a noticeable
click. Once the c-clip has entered the
groove the pin will have less resistance.
NOTE: Due to the tight manufacturing
tolerances, when installing the pin
it may be necessary to restrict the
shackle from compressing to allow for
the snap ring to properly activate.
Step 4
To assure the pin is engaged properly,
try to back out the pin using very light
pressure- if there is resistance felt the
pin is engaged properly and the pin can
now be fully tightened. If the pin doesn't
have resistance when backing it out then
remove the pin and reinstall a new pin.
