1. Introduction
Thermo reaction can be carried out quickly and safely by placing the tubes into the thermoreactor heating block.
Set the working temperature from room to 160 °C and the working time up to 199 minutes, or continuous.
ECO 16 offers the possibility to thermoreact 14 tubes (Ø 16 mm) and 2 (Ø 22 mm) simultaneously.
2. Assembly and installation
Upon receipt and after having removed the packaging, please check the integrity of the instrument. The box includes:
•
ECO 16
2.1 Electrical connection
Before connecting the instrument to the power supply, make sure that the values on the rating plate correspond to those of
the power supply. Connect the unit to the power supply using the transformer supplied.
Ensure that the socket and the relative cut-off device conform to current safety norms and easy to reach.
2.2 Start-up
Use the on-off switch on the front of the unit to turn the unit on (position "−"). When switched on the unit all the leds blink for
few seconds. When the leds are off the unit is ready to be programmed at different work temperatures and times.
3. Operating controls
Shift (A): it moves the messenger under all the parameters to be set during programming.
Increase (B): it shifts the value of the parameter corresponding to the messenger position.
Enter (C): it stores the values shown by the display.
Start (D): it sets going the work cycle.
Main switch (E): it turns on and off the instrument.
3.1 Programming
Turn on the main switch on control panel (E).
The unit performs in a few second a "Self-Test", after which: VELP SCIENTIFICA
Pressing the Shift push-button the display shows two values contained in the memory (temperature and time):
Set
Temp.
Time
100 °C
30'
Where:
Temp. (100 °C) is the temperature set. Range from room temperature to 160 °C.
Time (30') is the time of staying at the temperature set. Range from 0 to 199 minutes.
A continuous operation can be set by a 200, 300... value of time. A symbol === is displayed in this case.
The parameters set are stored by pressing Enter (C). When the unit is turned off the set values are retained in the memory.
3.2 Work cycle
It is set going by pressing the Start (D) and the display shows: Working 20 °C
Where:
Working
Shows the operation of the work cycle.
20 °C
Is the present temperature of heating block.
60'
Is the time of staying at the set temperature.
When the set value of temperature is reached the value of time displayed starts to decrease with a resolution of one second.
At the end of work cycle a beeper warns and the display shows: *END*
When a new work cycle should start with a temperature of the heating block higher than the set value, the display shows:
VELP SCIENTIFICA 160 °C NOT READY
Where the 160 °C refers to the temperature of the heating block and NOT READY refers to the instrument operation.
If the Start push-button is pressed the cycle does not start and the display shows: NOT ACTIVE Temp. too high
Should a work cycle be interrupted the push buttons (C) and (B) must be pressed contemporaneously.
3.3 Heating block temperature verification
The temperature is controlled electronically which ensures stability without temperature oscillations around the set point.
The Pt 100 probe provides high precision and does not require calibration because the internal software performs a self-
calibration every time the instrument is turned on. If, in spite of everything, a control is necessary, it is possible to measure
