Push button
(M ain body figures view d from handle side)
Forw ard rotation
By pulling the sw itch trigger, the rotation speed w ill
steplessly vary from 0 to 2000 revolutions per minute.
NOTE:
When the sw itch trigger is pulled only
slightly, a beep sound w ill be heard. This
is the sound of the m otor, and it does not
indicate any abnorm ality.
CAUTION
While the screw driver is running, the push button
cannot be sw itched.
To sw itch it, turn off the screw driver first.
OPERATIONAL CAUTIONS
1. After continuous w ork, allow the screw driver to rest
When you replace the battery after continuously
using the screw driver to tighten screw s, let the
screw driver rest for about 15 m inutes.
If you continue using the screw driver im m ediately
after replacing the battery, the m otor and sw itch etc.
m ay becom e very hot, and m ay burn out.
2. To screw in screw s, hold the driver straight against
the w orkpiece.
If the driver is slanted relative to the screw , the
screw head can be dam aged and the bit w orn.
M oreover, the prescribed torque is not transm itted
to the screw , resulting in screw s left sticking out.
3. When screw ing in, press the main body firmly until
the screw is completely screw ed in.
Relaxing your pressure on the driver w hile screw ing
in can leave the screw sticking out.
4. Do not you screw in a screw on top of another screw .
If you do, the screw falls over and the next screw
can not be fed.
5. Precautions for empty strikers:
When you are screw ing in colleted screw strips, you
m ight continue to use the driver w ithout noticing
that you have run out of screw s. If you try to screw
in w hen you are out of screw s, the bit can dam age
the gypsum board, so w hile w orking, keep an eye
on how m any screw s you have left.
6. Cautions on use of the speed control sw itch
This sw itch has a built-in, electronic circuit w hich
steplessly varies the rotation speed. Consequently,
w hen the sw itch trigger is pulled only slightly (low
speed rotation) and the m otor is stopped w hile
continuously driving in screw s, the com ponents of
the electronic circuit parts m ay overheat and be
dam aged.

Clean the slider, sliding surface of the slider case
and roller of the upper part of the slider. (Fig. 20)

NOTE:
The operator m ay becom e covered w ith plaster dust
quite easily w hen operation is perform ed in an
upw ard direction. Clean the slide surface and roller
periodically during operation.
SCREW HANDLING
NOTE:
Handle both the packed box of screw s and the collated
screw strips w ith care. If you drop them , screw s can com e
out of the collated tape and cause screw feed m alfunctions.
Do not expose the screw s to prolonged periods of direct
sunlight or outside air. They can cause rust and collated
tape problem s, so w hen you w ill not be using the screw s
for aw hile, put them in the screw packing box or the like.
M AINTENANCE AND INSPECTION
1. Inspecting the driver bit
Using a broken bit or one w ith a w orn out tip is
dangerous because the bit can slip. Replace it by
a new one.
2. Inspecting the mounting screw s
Regularly inspect all m ounting screw s and ensure
that they are properly tightened. Should any of the
screw s be loose, retighten them im m ediately. Fail-
ure to do so m ay result in serious hazard.
3. Cleaning of the outside
When the autom atic screw driver is stained, w ipe
w ith a soft dry cloth or a cloth m oistened w ith soapy
w ater. Do not use chloric solvents, gasoline or paint
thinner, as they m elt plastics.
4. Storage
Store the autom atic screw driver in a place in w hich
the tem perature is less than 40°C, and out of reach
of children.
NOTE
Due to HITACHI's continuing program of research and
developm ent, the specifications herein are subject to
change w ithout prior notice.
