The combustion engine produces poisonous exhaust gases
as soon as it starts working. These gases contain toxic
carbon monoxide, a colourless and odourless gas as well
as other harmful materials. The combustion engine must
never be operated in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.
Start-up:
Switch on the log splitter carefully following the operating
instructions in the instruction manual. Using the log splitter
according to these instructions reduces the risk of injury.
When the starter cord returns to its original position,
the hand and arm are quickly moved towards the
combustion engine. This retraction may cause fractures,
bruises and sprains.
When
performing
cleaning,
maintenance work, always wear gloves and place the log
splitter on a firm, flat floor.
Allow the splitter to cool down specially before
performing maintenance work on the combustion
engine, exhaust manifold and silencer. Temperatures of
80°C and above can be reached.
Direct contact with engine oil can be dangerous, moreover,
engine oil must not be spilled.
Check the log splitter frequently, especially before storage
(e.g. before the winter period), regarding wear and damage.
Replace worn out or damaged parts immediately for safety
reasons so that the equipment is always in a safe operating
condition.
Cleaning:
Do not use strong cleaning agents. These products can
damage plastics and metals and impair the safe operation
of your tool.
In order to avoid the risk of fire, the areas of the cooling air
vents, cooling fins and exhaust must remain free from
flammable waste.
Maintenance work:
Only the maintenance work described in these operating
instructions may be carried out, all other work must be
performed by an official dealer.
Use only VITO authorized accessories, oils or lubricants.
Otherwise, injury or damage to the log splitter may occur. If
in doubt, you should contact an official dealer.
adjustment,

or
For safety reasons, the fuel components (hoses, tap, tank,
tank cap and connections) should be checked regularly to
detect damage and leaks. If necessary, they should be
replaced by an official dealer.
Always keep warning and indication stickers clean and
legible.
Keep all nuts and screws screwed so that the log splitter is
in a safe working condition.
If you remove components or safety devices for
maintenance work, they must be replaced immediately and
correctly.
If you lack the necessary knowledge and means, always
contact an official dealer.
Allow the combustion engine to cool down before placing
the log splitter in a closed compartment.
Never store the equipment with petrol in the tank inside a
closed space. Petrol vapours that form can come into
contact with flames or sparks and ignite.
Store the log splitter in a dry place, with the tank empty and
the fuel reserve in a well closed and ventilated
compartment.
If you wish to empty the tank, for example in a period before
winter, the fuel tank should only be emptied outdoors.
Clean the
log
splitter
particularly during the winter period. Store the lawn mower
in an operational condition.
Make sure that the log splitter is protected against misuse
(e.g. by children).
Your log splitter should only be serviced by the
manufacturer's internal service personnel, or other
qualified personnel, replacing any necessary parts with
original parts sourced directly from the manufacturer.
