TIPS 'N TRICKS FROM PLATO
Follow these tips for the most efficient experience
Mapping your room
▶ Remove all temporary furniture not used during the service, such as
carts, and ask people to leave the room
▶ Make sure the area is set up as it normally is during service: you can
simulate an occupied room by moving all the chairs back from the tables
▶ Make sure Plato's path is at least 60 cm wide. Make it even wider if
you use accessories such as trays
▶ Turn the lights on: Plato needs to see every obstacle
Pushing Plato
▶ You can place the Tablet on the top shelf to keep an eye on the map
▶ Take every path you'd want Plato to use
▶ Take those paths in both directions if possible
▶ Get close to walls and obstacles with Plato (1 cm)
▶ Make sure to end mapping where you started to create a loop
▶ Before finishing, check all paths are clearly marked and highlighted
in white on the map
Adding Destinations
▶ Obstacles are shown as orange areas on your map. Only place
Destinations outside these areas
▶ For good table service, it is recommended to place Destinations 10 cm
away from tables
▶ If you want to use Plato as a relay between kitchen staff and servers,
create a Destination at dispatch areas for servers to pick up dishes
and carry them to customers. Create a dispatch Destination for each
zone of your restaurant
▶ If you want customers to get their dishes from Plato themselves,
create Destinations at each table
▶ You can choose to have Plato's display facing the table to allow social
contact, or have its shelves facing the table to make it easier for
customers to get dishes
▶ If you need to rearrange your furniture and push tables together
to accommodate customers, you can use Forbidden Zones on your map
to prevent Plato from attempting to travel a path that no longer exists
▶ Plato can't always detect glass doors and mirrors. It's recommended
to use Forbidden Zones to prevent Plato from going near them
FORBIDDEN ZONES: EDITABLE AREAS WHERE THE ROBOT CANNOT GO
Once you're done mapping your room and adding Destinations,
