Refer to the chart below when this unit does not function properly. If the problem you are experiencing is not listed below
or if the instruction below does not help, set this unit to the standby mode, disconnect the AC power supply cable, and
contact the nearest authorized Yamaha dealer or service center.
General
Problem
This unit fails to turn on
when STANDBY/ON is
pressed, or enters the
standby mode soon after the
power has been turned on.
This unit suddenly enters the
standby mode.
No sound.
The sound suddenly goes
off.
No sound from the effect
channels.
No sound from the center
channel.
No sound from the surround
channels.
Troubleshooting
Cause
The AC power supply cable is not firmly
connected to the AC wall outlet.
This unit has been exposed to a strong
external electric shock (such as lightning
and strong static electricity).
The internal temperature becomes too high
and the overheat protection circuitry has
been activated.
The sleep timer has turned the unit off.
Incorrect input or output cable connections.
No appropriate input source has been
selected.
The volume is turned down.
The sound is muted.
The signals this unit cannot reproduce (such
as PCM signals with more than 96 kHz of
sampling frequency) are being received
from the source component.
The sleep timer has turned this unit off.
The sound is muted.
You are playing back the source or program
in the stereo playback or My Beam mode.
The output level of the center channel is set
to minimum.
The output level of the surround channels is
set to minimum.
Remedy
Connect the AC power supply cable firmly
to the AC wall outlet.
Set this unit to the standby mode, disconnect
the AC power supply cable, plug it back in
after 30 seconds, and use it normally.
Wait for about one hour for this unit to cool
down and turn it back on.
Turn on the power and play back the source
again.
Connect the cables properly. If the problem
persists, the cables may be defective.
Select an appropriate input source with
INPUT or the input selector buttons.
Turn up the volume.
Press MUTE or VOLUME +/– to resume
audio output and adjust the volume level.
Play a source whose signals can be
reproduced by this unit.
Change the system settings of the source
component.
Turn on the power and play back the source
again.
Press MUTE or VOLUME +/– to resume
audio output and adjust the volume level.
Press one of the beam mode buttons on the
remote control to select a multi-channel
playback mode and play back the source or
program once more.
Raise the level of the center channel.
Raise the output level of the surround
channels.
