In very dusty or dirty areas, dirt and dust can build up on the detector's
sensing chamber, to make it overly sensitive. Additionally, dust or dirt
can block openings to the sensing chamber and keep the detector from
sensing smoke.
INSTALLING YOUR SMOKE DETECTOR
Please follow these steps to install your smoke detector:
•
R e m o v e t h e m o u n t i n g b r a c k e t f r o m y o u r u n i t b y r o t a t i n g i t
counterclockwise.

Using a 3/16-inch (5mm) drill bit, drill two holes at the marks and insert
plastic wall plugs. Ensure the detector is placed in a position to avoid
getting plaster dust on it when you drill holes for mounting.
•
Line up the slot of the bracket and the detector. Push the detector onto
the mounting bracket and turn it clockwise to fix it into place. Pull outward
on the detector to make sure it is securely attached to the mounting
bracket.
CAUTION: This smoke detector comes with cover latches that will prevent
the smoke detector cover from closing if battery is not installed. This tells
you that the smoke detector will not work until a new battery is properly
installed.
TESTING YOUR SMOKE DETECTOR
•
Check all detectors once a week using the test button or the test gas for
smoke detectors available in the ABUS programme. The test button is at
the front of the smoke detector. Now the siren will sound and the
functionality of the detector will be checked (except radio transmission)!

At the same time, the sensitivity of the smoke detector will be reduced
and 2 short beep tones can be heard. If you want to check the radio alarm
function, you have to push the test button longer than 3 seconds (The
detector now is in SILENT MODE). Then, the TEST LED will constantly
light up for approx. 40 seconds. This indicates radio transmission. After
a short delay, an alarm will sound in all other smoke detectors for approx.
25 seconds. If you want to check further devices, please wait for approx.
1 minute.
Interconnection of the detectors
•
All interlinked systems have to be set to the same radio code.
•
In principle, the detector is delivered with identical codes ex works. In
order to avoid interferences with detectors identical in construction, please
change the codes of all detectors before initial use.
