Intended use of the machine.
The machine is intended for stationary deburring and
polishing of metal materials using manufacturer approved
brushes, sanding and polishing tools. The machine is not
permitted for operation with grinding discs.
Mounting instructions.
Fasten the machine onto the GRIT undercarriage GIXBE,
GIXS (see mounting instructions). The fastening of both
the undercarriage to the floor and the machine to the
undercarriage must be suitable to withstand the forces
occurring during working.
Use appropriate screw connections (size, length) for
mounting.
Electrical connection.
The electrical connection, which is to be provided
by customer, must be carried out by a qualified
electrician.
Observe mains voltage: The mains voltage and the fre-
quency of the power source must agree with the data on
the type plate of the machine.
Before starting operation for the first time, check the
rotation direction of the motor. The rotation direction
may be changed only by a qualified electrician.
Adjustments.
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power
plug from the socket outlet.
Adjusting the grinding rest (7).
Loosen both fastening screws (8). Adjust the sanding
rest to the required height depending on the size of
the work piece.
Tighten the fastening screws (8) again.
Adjusting the spark guard (4).
Loosen both wing bolts (5) and adjust the spark
guard (4) in such a manner that the brushes, sanding
or polishing tools are covered off as far as possible.
Tighten both wing bolts again.
Adjusting the gap size (Figure 1).
Brushes, sanding and polishing tools are subject to
natural wear. Therefore, the gap size must be
checked regularly and corrected, if required.
Turn the star-knob bolt (9) until the clearance
between the brushes, sanding or polishing tools (6)
and the sanding rest (7) is 2 mm (max.).
Replacing brushes, sanding or polishing
tools (Figure 2).
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power
plug from the socket outlet.
Loosen the four screws (16) and remove the protec-
tive cover (15).
Adjust the required gap size with the star-knob
bolt (9).
Insert the pin (19) provided into the drill hole (18)
and secure the tool holder against rotation.
Loosen the clamping screw (14) and remove the
clamping washer (12).
Remove the brushes, sanding or polishing tools.
Insert a set of two new brushes, sanding or polishing
tools. Pay attention that the drive pin on the tool
holder (11) engages in the hole of the wheel.
Remount the clamping washer (12) and the clamping
screw (14 with the spring washer (13), and tighten
the clamping screw.
Switch the machine on and check for true running.
In case of heavy vibration or noise, either of the
brushes, sanding or polishing tools can be out-of-
balance. Replace tools that are out-of-balance
immediately!
Pay attention for the correct running direction of
the tools!
Adjust the sanding rest (7) to the required height.
Adjust the required gap size with the star-knob
bolt (9).
