BATTERIES
The battery supplied is partially charged (to ensure
full capacity of the battery, completely charge the battery
in the battery charger before using your power tool for the
first time)
Only use the following batteries and chargers with
this tool
- SKIL battery: BR1*31****
- SKIL charger: CR1*31****
Do not use the battery when damaged; it should be
replaced
Do not disassemble the battery
Do not expose tool/battery to rain
Permitted ambient temperature (tool/charger/battery):
- when charging 4...40°C
- during operation –20...+50°C
- during storage –20...+50°C
EXPLANATION OF SYMBOLS ON TOOL/BATTERY
3 Read the instruction manual before use
4 Batteries may explode when disposed of in fire, so do not
burn battery for any reason
5 Store tool/charger/battery in locations where temperature
will not exceed 50°C
6 Do not dispose of electric tools and batteries together
with household waste material
USE
Combined switch for on/off and speed control A 2 8 9
- control the speed steplessly from zero to maximum by
putting less or more pressure on the trigger
Charging battery
! read the safety warnings and instructions
provided with the charger
Removing/installing the battery 2
Battery level indicator 7
- press the battery level indicator button F to show the
current battery level.
Changing direction of rotation q
- when not properly set in left/right position, switch A
cannot be activated
! change direction of rotation only when tool is at a
complete standstill
Changing bits w
! clean and lightly lubricate the SDS+ accessory
before insertion
- pull back locking sleeve C and insert accessory
in SDS+ chuck while turning and pushing it until it
engages; the accessory locks in position automatically
- pull accessory to check that it is locked correctly
- remove accessory by pulling back locking sleeve C
! the SDS+ accessory requires freedom of
movement which causes eccentricity when tool
is off-load; however, the accessory automatically
centres itself during operation without affecting
drilling precision
! do not use bits with a damaged shank
Selecting operating mode e
- turn switch D to the desired operating mode until it
snap-locks
1 = normal drilling/screwdriving
2 = impact drilling
3 = chiseling with rotating chisel
4 = chiseling with fixed chisel
All manuals and user guides at all-guides.com
! select operating mode only when tool is switched
off and plug is disconnected
- the hammer mechanism is activated by applying a
slight pressure on the tool when the drill bit is in contact
with the workpiece
- it takes a short time for the hammer mechanism to
reach full impact power
- best hammer drilling results can be obtained by only a
slight pressure on the tool; drilling performance will not
improve by applying more pressure on the tool
Chiseling with rotating chisel e
! switch off the tool and disconnect the plug
- select "rotating" chiseling mode
Chiseling with fixed chisel r
! switch off the tool and disconnect the plug
- select "rotating" chiseling mode
- place chisel in desired position
- select "fixed" chiseling mode
Battery protection
Switches off the tool or prevents the tool from being
switched on, when
- the load is too high
- the battery temperature is not within the allowable
operating temperature range of -20 to +50°C
- the lithium-ion battery is nearly empty (to protect
against deep discharge)
! do not continue to press the on/off switch after the
tool is switched off automatically; battery may be
damaged
Adjusting drilling depth u
Holding and guiding the tool t
! while working, always hold the tool at the grey-
coloured grip area(s)
- always use auxiliary handle H (can be adjusted as
illustrated) y
- keep ventilation slots E 2 uncovered
- do not apply too much pressure on the tool; let the tool
do the work for you
APPLICATION ADVICE
Use the appropriate bits i
! only use sharp bits
For drilling with non SDS drill bits in wood, metal and
plastic, use an adapter (not standard included) o
! clean and lightly lubricate the SDS+ accessory
before insertion
- pull back locking sleeve C 2 and insert adapter
in SDS+ chuck while turning and pushing it until it
engages; the adapter locks in position automatically
- pull adapter to check whether is it locked correctly
- set switch D 2 to normal drilling (only activate when
tool is switched off and the switch is locked)
When drilling ferrous metals
- pre-drill a smaller hole, when a large hole is required
- lubricate drill bit occasionally with oil
When turning in a screw at/near the cross cut end or an
edge of wood, pre-drill a hole in order to avoid cracking
of the wood
Splinterfree drilling in wood p
Dustfree drilling in walls a
Dustfree drilling in ceilings s
Drilling in tiles without skidding d
