determine if the wheel runs balanced and does not produce excessive vibration. If it does,
switch off IMMEDIATELY, remove the disc, inspect, re-mount and re-test if no damage is detected
• If planning on using the superabrasive wheel with a coolant, liquid dust suppressant or
lubricant, first check if the wheel, machine and workpiece are compatible with wet cutting
and with the compound to be used. Always apply liquid to an already running wheel, never
to a non-moving tool, as the unbalance could lead to the rupture of the wheel. When switching
off, remove the liquid supply first and let the machine run at no-load, until centrifugal forces
have drained all liquid from the wheel. Dry off the wheel after use, and prevent liquid from being
absorbed into the wheel
Avoiding angle grinder burnout
Note: grinders are designed to work under load. Provided the motor is cooled quickly, minimal wear
or damage will occur.
• DO NOT over work the angle grinder.
• If the grinder emits a burning smell, DO NOT stop the grinder; instead, remove from load and
allow to spin freely for approximately 5-10 seconds at high speed to cool the motor before
continuing work.
• Repeat the removal of the grinder from load intermittently to keep the tool cool during use.
If a grinder is slowing down on sticky material whilst under load:
1. Check the correct grinding wheel type is being used.
2. Make shallower passes across the material.

Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise yourself with all its features and
functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or
damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool
Before Use
WARNING: Always unplug the grinder from the mains supply before attempting to fit or
replace any attachment. Never fit any attachment with a maximum speed lower than the rated
speed of the machine.
• All discs and accessories must be subjected to a visual inspection prior to installation, to ensure
they are in good condition and within their expiry date. If in doubt, DO NOT USE AND DISCARD
• Always check all parts and attachments are secure, and that rotating parts will not foul on guards

ear defenders, eye protection, gloves, breathing protection, and if appropriate a hard hat
Fitting the auxiliary handle
WARNING: To ensure operator safety, ALWAYS use the tool with the Auxiliary Handle (7) installed.
1. Screw the Auxiliary Handle by hand into the left or right hand threaded hole. (Fig. I)
Adjusting, removing & installing the wheel guards
WARNING: The correct guard MUST be installed for each application before use. This is a legal
requirement.
WARNING: NEVER install a cutting disc or super abrasive cutting wheel without the correct cutting
wheel guard (not supplied) in place.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the Guard is positioned to provide a barrier between the disc and the operator.
Adjusting the grinding guard
Note: The Grinding Guard (8) can be moved through a range of approximately 90° so it can be
placed between the disc and the operator at any required work angle.
1. Using the Hex Key (10) provided, loosen the Grinding Guard (8)
2. Adjust the Grinding Guard so the guard will protect the operator from the disc when the tool is in
use
3. Tighten the Grinding Guard
Fitting a grinding or cutting disc
IMPORTANT: Ensure the correct cutting or grinding guard is installed.
1. Install the Inner Flange (3) onto the Spindle (1)
Note: Ensure the Inner Flange is fitted the correct way around so that when the Inner Flange is
rotated the motor rotates. (Fig. II)
2. Place the cutting or grinding disc onto the Inner Flange
Note: If using depressed centre discs, ensure that the depression is positioned towards the Inner
Flange.
3. Screw the Threaded Flange (2) onto the Spindle (1)
Note: The raised centre of the Threaded Flange should face towards the disc when installing a
grinding disc (Fig. III), and away when installing a cutting disc (Fig. IV)
4. Depress the Spindle Lock Button (4) and rotate the Spindle until the lock engages
5. Tighten the Threaded Flange turning clockwise using the Pin Spanner (9).
6. When tight, release the Spindle Lock Button. The grinder is now ready for use
Removing a grinding or cutting disc
1. Remove a disc by depressing the Spindle Lock Button (4), then rotate the Spindle (1) until the
lock engages
2. Use the Pin Spanner (9) to remove the Threaded Flange (2)
Fitting a wire cup brush
IMPORTANT: When using a wire cup brush, ALWAYS install the Grinding Guard (8) and Auxiliary
Handle (7) as described in the previous sections.
1. Remove the Threaded Flange (2), grinding disc (if installed) and Inner Flange (3) from the
Spindle (1)
2. Screw the cup brush directly onto the Spindle
3. Depress the Spindle Lock Button (4) and rotate the Spindle until the lock engages
4. Tighten the cup brush with a suitable spanner (not supplied). Release the Spindle Lock Button.
The tool is now ready for use (Image A)
Removing a wire cup brush
1. To remove a cup brush, depress the Spindle Lock Button (4), rotate the Spindle (1) until the lock
engages, then use a suitable spanner (not supplied) to remove the cup brush
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing protection, as well as
suitable gloves, when working with this tool.
Switching ON & OFF
WARNING: Do not switch the tool ON/OFF when it is under load.
• ALWAYS allow the motor to reach its full speed before applying load
• Ensure the grinder has come to a complete stop before putting down after use
• Using both hands, always hold the tool securely by the handles provided
WARNING: Switching 'OFF' the angle grinder under load will significantly reduce the service life
of the grinder.
1. To start the tool, grip the Rear Handle (6) and Auxiliary Handle (7) firmly
2. Slide the ON/OFF Slider Switch (5) forward until it clicks into the 'I' position
3. To stop the tool, press and slide the Switch to the '0' position (Fig. V)
Note: the ON/OFF Switch is spring loaded to automatically return to the '0' position when pressed.
