8 PREPARATION
The following parts are included in the packaging for assembly of the scarifier:
•
Scarifier with preassembled guide bar
•
Tool bag with the following contents:
–
Operating instructions with declaration of conformity
–
Warranty conditions (depending on model)
–
Various fixing parts
In the unlikely event of a missing part, please contact your dealer.
ATTENTION
Always remove the spark plug connector before fitting the bar and starter cable
holder, and when folding the bar out. Following assembly, at the latest before
starting the engine, push the spark plug connector back in place.
Attach the guide bar (figure E1 + X3 )
IMPORTANT
Make sure that the cables are not pinched, squeezed, twisted or overstretched
when the guide bars are folded apart or collapsed! Always run the cables along
the outside of the bar connection. A damaged cable may result in a technical
defect of the device.
–
Open out the folded guide bar by pulling upwards.
–
When the top and bottom sections of the guide bar are aligned, firmly tighten
the knurled nuts (1) on both sides by hand E1 .
–
Use the nuts (2), washers (3) and hexagon bolts (4) from the tool bag X3 .
–
Raise the lower guide bar section (5) and place against the upper or lower
bore holes of the previously mounted support (6) in order to set the different
bar angles X3 :
Upper bore hole = steep bar setting (for taller users)
Lower bore hole = flat bar setting (for shorter users)
–
From the outside and on both sides, insert the hexagon bolts (4) with the fitted
washer (3) through the lower bar section (5) and support (6), fit the second washer
(3) and screw into place with the nut (2).
–
Firmly tighten all screw connections.
Handle starter assembly (figure L1 )
–
Remove the starter cable holder (1) from the tool bag.
–
Unscrew the nut until the two halves can be pushed over the bar.
–
There is a sticker (2) on the top bar showing the position of the starter cable
holder.
ATTENTION
For reasons of safety, the starter cable holder may only be fitted in the
prescribed position.
–
Pull the starter cable (3) out and insert it into the starter cable holder.
–
Fit the two halves (4) together and turn them outwards slightly, tighten the nut
again. This prevents the starter cable from popping out.
The starter cable holder must be fitted / aligned in such a way that the starter
cable is freely accessible and does not rub against any other parts.
9 BEFORE INITIAL USE
For explanation of symbols, see the table on page 3
Check all screw connections and the spark plug connector for a tight fit. Tighten the
screws, if necessary. Special attention must be paid to the assembly and condition
of the cutter shaft (refer to the chapter "Cutter shaft care").
Always have work on the cutter shaft done by an authorised specialist workshop. If the
cutter shaft is assembled incorrectly, parts can become loose, which can lead to serious
injuries.
The scarifier is fitted with an engine stop device.
Before using the equipment for the first time, make sure that the engine stop safety
control bar is working perfectly. When the safety grip is released, the engine and the
cutting tool must come to a standstill (Note! The cutting tool runs for a while!). If this
is not the case, please consult your nearest authorised workshop.
After release, the bar must always return to the position shown in the "Description
of components" diagram.
If this is not the case, it must be checked immediately by an authorised workshop.
Machine safety and protective devices must not be manipulated or disabled.
Make sure that all protective devices have been attached properly and are not
damaged.
Checking the oil level and filling with oil (figure Y1 )
For explanation of symbols, see the table on page 3
IMPORTANT
Avoid damage! Engine is delivered without oil. You must add oil before running
the engine.
–
The scarifier must stand horizontally on level ground.
–
Remove any dirt from the oil filling area.
–
Take out the dipstick (1) and wipe it with a clean cloth.
–
Insert the dipstick (1). Do not turn or tighten it.
–
Pull out the dipstick (1) and check the oil level. If the oil level is correct, the oil will
reach up to the full mark (2) of the dipstick.
–
If the oil level is too low, slowly pour engine oil into the filling hole (3) (for quantity
and quality, see technical data). The oil level should reach up to the lower edge of
the filling hole.
–
Insert the dipstick (1) again and tighten.
Filling with fuel
For explanation of symbols, see the table on page 3
–
Only fill the tank with fresh and clean unleaded standard petrol.
Fuel with up to 10% ethanol is acceptable.
–
Unscrew the tank cap.
