3.2 Intended use
The model 990.45 diaphragm seal has been developed especially for applications where
very high temperatures occur in the process. The diaphragm seal is capable of withstand-
ing process temperatures of up to 450 °C [842 °F], enabling safe and reliable operation,
even under the harsh conditions of the process industry.
The model 990.45 is suitable for gaseous and liquid aggressive media that are not highly
viscous or crystallising, also in aggressive environments.
Mounting of the diaphragm seal to a measuring instrument is usually made via a flexible
capillary in order to ensure a sufficient distance to the measuring instrument. This ensures
that the measuring instrument can be operated within permissible temperatures.
The product has been designed and built solely for the intended use described here, and
may only be used accordingly.
The technical specifications contained in these additional operating instructions must be
observed. Improper handling or operation of the instrument outside of its technical specifi-
cations requires the instrument to be taken out of service immediately and inspected by an
authorised WIKA service engineer.
