A jig saw is used for cutting in straight lines or curves through a variety
of materials: wood and by-products (plywood, particle boards, mela-
mine, laminate, etc.), copper, aluminium, PVC, ceramics, ...
Very useful, for example, for fixing a bathroom washbasin or a kitchen
sink into the work surface.
The more teeth the blade has, the finer the cut.
The oscillating head, if your machine has this function, adds a rocking motion to
the vertical movement, to make the blade move more easily through the wood and
increase sawing speed.
The laser, if your machine has one, produces a beam of light which shows you where
the blade will go.
The speed control, if your machine has this equipment, enables you to adapt the speed
to the material you are working with.
Use a narrow form cutter for the curved cuts.
The lighting function, if your machine has one, makes it more comfortable to work
with in dark environments.
Always ensure that the piece you are working with is properly fixed so that it does not
vibrate.
When cutting wood, the cut will always be cleaner on the underneath face.
Lorsque l'on coupe du bois, c'est toujours la face du dessous qui aura la coupe la plus
nette.
Ensure the blade you use is suited to the material you are working with.
