1. Specified Use

The parting safety guard is designed to be attached
to the original safety guard for Metabo angle
grinders with the name W...8-...; W...9-...; W...10-
...W...11-...; W...12-...; W...14-..., W...15-...; W...17-
...as of the year of manufacture 2008. The year of
manufacture (Y) is specified on the machine rating
plate. For example:
99999999
D-72622 Nürtingen
Type
Made in Germany
Not suitable for angle grinders with Autobalancer
(W...A...).
The spindle of the angle grinder must not have any
fine thread (M14x1.5 mm), see operating
instructions of the angle grinder.
The parting safety guard is designed for cutting or
slitting mineral based materials such as reinforced
concrete and masonry, while firmly supported on
the level surface, without water.
Use only diamond cutting discs. Do not use any
abrasive cutting discs or other tools.
Do not machine any metallic materials.
Materials that generate dusts or vapours that may
be harmful to health must not be processed.
Always use a suitable dust extraction system:
Connect an M-class vacuum cleaner to the
extractor connection (5) piece. We recommend
using an antistatic suction hose Ø 35 mm.
It is suitable for commercial use in trade and
industry.
The user bears sole responsibility for any damage
caused by inappropriate use.
Generally accepted accident prevention
regulations and the enclosed safety information
must be observed.
Read the operating instructions supplied with the
installed angle grinder.

3. Special Safety Instructions

3.1
Safety instructions for abrasive cut-off
machines
a) The guard belonging to the power tool must
be securely attached and positioned for
maximum safety so that the minimum area of
the wheel is exposed towards the operator.
Ensure that neither you or bystanders are
positioned within the plane of the rotating
abrasive wheel. The guard helps to protect
operator from broken wheel fragments and
accidental contact with wheel.
b) Only use diamond cut-off wheels for your
power tool. Just because the accessory can be
attached to your power tool, it does not assure safe
operation.
c) The rated speed of the accessory must be at
least equal to the maximum speed marked on
the power tool. Accessories running faster than
their rated speed can break and fly apart.
d) Grinding media must be used only for
recommended applications. For example: Do
not grind with the side of cutting disc. Cutting
discs are intended for peripheral grinding, side
forces applied to these grinding media may cause
them to shatter.
e) Always use undamaged clamping flanges
that are of correct size and shape for your
selected grinding disc. Suitable flanges support
the grinding disc thus reducing the possibility of disc
breakage.
f) The outside diameter and the thickness of
your accessory must be within the capacity
rating of your power tool. Incorrectly sized
accessories cannot be adequately guarded or
controlled.
g) The abrasive wheels and flange must fit
precisely onto your power tool's grinding
spindle. Accessories with arbour holes that do not
fit the power tool's grinding spindle will run out of
balance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss of
control.
h) Do not use damaged abrasive wheels.
Before each use, check the abrasive wheels for
chips and cracks. If the power tool or the
abrasive wheel is dropped, inspect for damage.
Never use a damaged abrasive wheel. Once
you have checked and installed the wheel,
position yourself and bystanders away from
the plane of the rotating wheel and run the
power tool at maximum no-load speed for one
minute. Damaged abrasive wheels will normally
break apart during this test period.
i) Wear personal protective equipment.
Depending on application, use face shield,
safety goggles or safety glasses. As
appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing
protectors, gloves and workshop apron
capable of stopping small abrasive or
workpiece fragments. The eye protection must be
