8 Troubleshooting
Problem
Pipette broken off in
adapter.
Instrument suction
system not working/
pipette dripping.
Liquid in adapter or
suction tube.
Pipette not held in
adapter.
A visual inspection of the device is often sufficient to detect a defective
part. This can then be easily replaced with a spare part. The advantages
of self-repair are obvious: Cost and time savings.

Pipette was damaged or
pushed into the adapter
with too much force.
Adapter or suction tube
damaged.
Adjustment wheel turned
too quickly.
Adapter is too moist or
greasy.

Corrective action
Remove glass fragments with tweezers;
replace adapter with suction hose if
necessary, see Replacing adapter and
suction tube, p. 38 .
Replace adapter with suction tube, see

Clean or disinfect adapter and suction tube
