• Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCl) protection
should beprovided on the circuit(s) oroutlet(s) tobe

having builtin GFCl protection and may b eused for
this m easure ofsafety.
• Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if
damaged. Keep handles dry, clean, and f ree f rom oil
or grease.
• Do not o perate the mower without the entire grass
catcher, discharge guard, rear guard, orother safety
protective devices inplace and w orking.
• Follow m anufacturer's instructions forproper
operation and installation ofaccessories. Only u se
accessories approved by the manufacturer.
• Clear the work area b efore each use. Remove all
objects such a srocks, sticks, wire, bones, toys, or
other objects which can be thrown by the blade. Stay
behind the handle when the motor isrunning.
• Avoid holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, orother hidden
objects. Uneven terrain could cause aslip and fall
accident.
• Donotmow near d rop-offs, ditches, or
embankments.
• Mow a cross the face o f s lopes, never up and d own.
Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on
slopes.
• Plan y our mowing pattern toavoid d ischarge of
material toward roads, sidewalks, bystanders, and t he
like. Also, avoid discharging material against awall or
obstruction, which may cause the material toricochet
back toward the operator.
• Do not m ow onwet g rass orexcessively steep
slopes. Poor footing could c ause aslip and fall
accident. Walk, never run.
• Use extra c are w hen a pproaching blind c orners,
shrubs, trees, orother objects that m ay b lock your
view.
• Do not p ul( the mower backward unless absolutely
necessary. Ifyou must back the mower away from a
wall or obstruction, first look down and b ehind toavoid
tripping.
• Never direct discharged material toward anyone.
Avoid d ischarging material against a wall o r
obstruction. Material may ricochet back t oward
the operator. Stop t he blade when crossing grave(
surfaces.
• Objects struck by the lawn m ower blade can c ause
severe injuries topersons. The l awn should always be
carefully examined and c leared ofall o bjects prior to
each mowing.
• Ifthe lawn m ower strikes aforeign object, follow
these
steps:
•Stop the lawn m ower and r elease the switch control
lever.
•Disconnect the power cord.
•Thoroughly inspect the mower for a ny d amage.
•Repair any d amage before restarting and c ontinuing
tooperate the mower.
• Stop t he motor, disconnect the power cord, and
wait until the blade comes toacomplete stop b efore
removing the grass catcher orunclogging the chute.
The cutting blade c ontinues torotate f orafew
seconds after the motor isshut off. Never place any
part ofthe body inthe blade area u ntil you are sure
the blade has s topped rotating.
• Disconnect the plug f rom power source before
making any adjustments, changing accessories,
orstoring the lawn m ower. Such preventive safety
measures reduce the risk ofstarting the product
accidentally.
• Ifthe mower should start tovibrate abnormally,
stop t he motor and c heck immediately for t he cause.
