Before Using This Unit
Turntable Parts and Controls
Thank you for purchasing the Onkyo
CP-1046F Quartz
Locked
Direct Drive Fully Automatic Turntable.
This fine
instrument has been carefully designed and
constructed to provide years of enjoyment.
To be
sure you receive optimum
performance from this
unit, please read this instruction manual carefully
before installing and using the CP-1046F
and keep
the
manual
for future reference.
Locating the unit:
Because the CP-1046F
is a precision made instrument,
it is very sensitive to vibrations,
temperature changes,
humidity, dust, and other environmental
factors.
To
assure that you enjoy all the benefits of this fine
turntable, observe the following points when
selecting
its location:
@
To prevent howling, avoid places subject to vibrations,
particularly those from the speakers.
Also, be sure
the dust cover and body are not touching the audio
rack or any other object.
@
Select a sturdy, level spot; even a slight inclination
may significantly affect tracing accuracy.
@
Avoid
places exposed to direct sunlight, heat producing
appliances, dust, and high humidity.
@
Always close the dust cover when the unit is not being
used.
Care and Maintenance
1. Clean the stylus periodically with a soft brush to
prevent the accumulation of dust.
2. From time to time, the dust cover and turntable
cabinet should be wiped with a soft, dry cloth.
Furniture wax, insecticides, volatile compounds, and
chemical cloths can damage the surface.
3. When the unit is shipped again, remove the counter-
weight and turntable platter and fix the tonearm
to
the
rest with the hook and adhesive tape.
Power Supply Voltages
Before connecting the unit to an AC outlet, check
whether it is set for the local AC voltage.
The turntable
may
be set to operate at either
110, 120, 220 or 240 V.
The voltage selector is under the turntable platter.
If a voltage change is necessary, switch to the proper
voltage.
Note that the CP-1046F operates at both 50 and
60 Hz power frequencies.
Some units have been designed to operate only
on AC 240 V 50 Hz or AC 220 V 50 Hz or 120 V
50/60
Hz
and are consequently not equipped
with a voltage selector.
Note:
