Operation
The SMSB-M21T-3G device is a remote-control system that uses the 2G/3G network. It can control and mon-
itor a system remotely via simple SMS command. Equipped with a relay output, a digital input and a tem-
perature sensor, SMSB-M21T-3G is suitable for any M2M application both in the civil and industrial field

Relay output (remote control)

The relay output allows you to remotely activate/deactivate electric utilities such as heating, watering, lights,
shutters, overhead doors, electric gates, etc. ...
The relay can be configured in the following ways:
switching mode ON/OFF
pulse mode
depending on the temperature sensor (thermostat function)
The relay can be operated by SMS, telephone call (even at no cost) and manual button.
Telephone call function (Ring)
This function allows the relay output to be operated with a simple telephone ring: the device recognizes the
caller's ID and compares it with the caller's list. This list can be configured using both software and SMS
commands. It is also possible to bypass this list and allow anyone who knows the SMSB-M21T-3G phone
number 1C1 to activate the user with a simple phone call.
In addition, by disabling the parameter REPLY, that is, by disabling the SMS response of the successful com-
mand, it is possible to execute the command at ZERO COST.
This function is not available for SIM cards only M2M data, as they do not handle voice.

Alarm events (monitoring)

he SMSB-M21T-3G device sends SMS alarms, following a programmed event, to a list of users enabled to
receive SMS alerts. This list can be programmed for up to eight users, either via software or SMS.
Three types of events are available:
Temperature alarm
Voltage alarm
Alarm input (digital input)
For each event, you can customize the text of both the alarm and the return. When an event occurs, SMSB-
M21T-3G will send the programmed text to users enabled to receive SMS alerts.
Temperature alarms
Two temperature alarms are available. For each of them, you can set the lower and upper threshold and
hysteresis.
Voltage alarm
If the device is powered by a battery (e.g. a solar panel), SMSB-M21T-3G is able to monitor the supply voltage
and send an SMS alarm when the programmed threshold is exceeded.
You can also use this function in several ways:
Current drop control: by inserting an accumulator (lead or NimH) in parallel with the device.
Remote monitoring of a battery: keeping under control a vehicle or a battery-powered solar panel
installation (segways, moving traffic lights, forklifts, etc.).
Alarm input
Through the digital input it is possible to connect with any sensor, system, actuator, etc. available on the
market. In fact, it is possible to program the input for operation both as a voltage contact and as a clean contact.
When the event occurs, SMSB-M21T-3G will send the desired text. In order to avoid false alarms, it is also
possible to set a delay time for both the alarm event and the return event.
