CLEARING JAMS AND TANGLED LINES
From time totime, e specially when cutting t hick orstalky weeds,
theline feeding h ubmay become clogged with saporother
material andtheline wilt b ecome jammed a saresult. Toclear
the jam, f ollow thesteps listed below.
1.Press t herelease tabs ontheline
hub cap, a sshown i nFigure 9
andremove thecapbypulling i t
straight off.
2. Liftthespool ofnylon l ineoutof
thehub andclear a nybroken l ine
orcutting d ebris f rom thespool
area. ( Ifyouplan toreplace t he
spool orrewind i t,thisistheplace
todoso,otherwise, move on.)
3. Unwrap about onefoot(30cm) o f
line toensure t hatit'sundamaged.
Ifitis OKrewind i tand insert t he
line endthrough t heeyelet inthe
spool hubasshown i nFigure 10.
Pull 4 in.(10cm)oftheline
through t hehole andmaintain
tension w hile placing t hespool
down intothehub withthearrow
up,asshown i nFigure 11.
4. Press t he spool down G ENTLY
and rotate i tuntil you feet i tdrop
intoplace. (When i nplace, the
spool will t urn afew degrees left
and right f reely). Take c are to
keep theline from becoming
trapped under thespool.
5. Snap thehubcapback on,and
power thetoot o n.Inafewseconds orless you'll hear t henylon
linebeing cutautomatically
totheproper length.
• For trouble
free feeding and best results, only use
Black & Decker replacement spools with single 0.065 inch line.
Black & Decker replacement
spool model number AF=100.
SPOOL OR LINE REPLACEMENT
(Use .065 in. (1.65mm)
diameter
ROUND line only)
1. Perform step 1 above to remove cap.
2. Remove the spool from the tool and remove and discard all line
on the spool.
3. Choose either OPTION 1 or OPTION 2 below for spool or line
replacement.
Perform steps listed under Option 1 or Option 2,
then continue with steps 4 through 6 below.
4. Insert the line end through the eyelet in the spool hub, as shown
in Figure 10. Pull the line through the hole to maintain tension
while placing the spool down into the hub, as shown in
Figure 11.
5. Press the spool down GENTLY and rotate it until you feel it drop
into place. (When in place, the spool will turn a few degrees left
and right freely). Take care to keep the line from becoming trapped
under the spool.
