Maintenance
For optimal performance and functionality of the TeCom-HD, please pay attention
to the following advices.
w Do not open the case of the radio. Improper opening may cause damages and
warranty claims are forfeited.
w For charging of the rechargeable battery pack, only use the charger SLG-
TeCom-HD that is included in the scope of delivery.
w Never expose the radio to direct sunlight or other heat sources. High temperatures
will diminish the longevity of certain components and plastic parts may melt and
deform.
w Never store the radio in dusty or dirty areas.
w Do not expose the radio to any liquid. Humidity max cause corrosion of the pcb
and its components.
w Should the radio generate unusual heat or emit unusual smell or even smoke,
please turn the radio off immediately and remove the battery pack. Contact your
dealer.
w Never transmit without antenna. A damage of the power amplifier may be the result.
Hazard Warning Battery Pack
The battery pack APP-TeCom-HD (part of the scope of delivery) is only to be used
for the TEAM handheld transceivers TeCom-HD.
This lithium-ion battery pack, like any other battery, can cause severe personal and
material damages if not used properly. Therefore, please pay attention to the following
notes:
w For charging of the battery pack, use only the battery charger that is included in
the scope of delivery. If the applied voltage or current is too high, or if the polarity
of the battery contacts gets reversed, unexpected, unwanted chemical reactions
might be the result. The battery pack might generate heat, smoke and fire might
be the result and the battery pack could explode.

w Do not break the case of the battery pack. Should the case be damaged, remove
the battery pack instantly from the radio and exchange it with a new one.
w Protect the battery pack from shocks and blows.
w Do not short-circuit the battery pack. Ensure that the electric poles are not
connected by any metal objects. Store the radio and the battery pack in the proper
way.
w If possible, avoid contact with defect or leaking battery packs.
w Keep defect or leaking battery packs out of distance from fire or great sources of
heat, an explosion will be very likely.
w Lithium-ion battery packs contain chemicals, flammable and caustic solutions,
as well as lithium salt. They cause irritation of the eyes, the skin and the mucous
membranes. The escaping vapors are a healt hazard.
In case of any direct contact, rinse with clear water, do not rub. Visit your doctor
immediately. Permanent damages might occur.
Security Note SAR
Radios generate heat in transmission and reception mode in relation to the tx-power.
The TeCom-HD PMR has a maximum tx-power of 500 mW. The SAR value - the mea-
surement of the specific absorbation rate of electromagnetic fields in a material - ,
does not exceed 2 W/kg, the upper limit, as suggested by the World Health Organi-
zation WHO. The PMR version can be used by humans off all age groups without
any security restrictions or special training.
The commercial versions UHF- and VHF-COM with their respective maximum tx-
power cannot be operated by children and teenagers due to a higher SAR value.
Adults need to be informed about the potential health risk of frequent transmission
with a high tx-power, and have to get proper instructions about how to operate the
radio.
