GENERAL INFORMATION
TAP CHANGERS
The tap changers of the series "K-KR-MTV-MRV" are linear, for installation in oil inside the transformer
tank, in horizontal or vertical position. They consist of a fixed bar made in insulating material (Bakelite or
Pressboard) on which are mounted the fixed contacts and a moving insulating part (Bakelite or epoxy glass)
on which are installed the moving contacts. They are suitable for installation in sets of one, two, three, six or
more single-phase (columns), with one or more groups of contacts for each column and with a single drive.
DRIVE WITH BEVEL GEARS
All drives with bevel gears (remote drives) are designed for the mechanical lock with padlock (type
1.12.101, 1.12.104, 1.12.201, 1.12.202, 1.12.202-2, 1.12.202BE, 1.12.208, 1.12.209, 1.12.210, 1.12.212,
1.12.212BE, 1.12.501 and 1.12.502) and are installed on the transformer lid or tank wall. Some of these
drives also have one or more micro-switches for the electrical block of the main switch of transformer and
for the remote transmission of the positions.
CONNECTIONS, COMMISSIONING OF THE CONTROL PANEL, THE RIGGING AND ANY SUBSEQUENT
INTERVENTION ON THE POWER REQUIRE THE WORK OF PROFESSIONALLY QUALIFIED AND AUTHORIZED.
ALL OPERATIONS MUST BE CARRIED WITHOUT VOLTAGE WITH TRANSFORMER DE-ENERGISED; NOT
OPERATE WHILE THE TRANSFORMER IS ENERGISED.

OVERLOADS
The tap changers manufactured by CAPT are able to withstand all overloads according to standard IEC
60076-7.
OPERATIONS
To operate between the various positions, the operator must proceed as below.
The first and essential step is disconnect the transformer from the grid by opening the switches on both the
HV and LV side, then placing it switched off.
Then is necessary to remove any lock, lift the locking knob located on the mechanical control and turn the
control toward the new position until it will be reached. Replace the mechanical locking knob, inserting the
pin into the hole in the terminal corresponding to the new location and eventually replace the lock. Make
sure that the operation is complete and that the new position has been reached; avoid giving power to
the transformer if you are not sure that you have completed the operation. For drives with electric lock,
especially when the wheel of the command performs more than one turn for each position, check the
correct connection of the electrical block to disconnect the transformer so as to avoid any operation with
the switch out of position. The plaque control are always indicated the number of rounds to be performed
for each operation 1,2,4, etc.
N. B. ALL SWITCHING MANOEUVRE MUST BE DONE WITH THE TRANSORMER DE-ENERGISED.
