DRIVE WITH MICRO-SWITCHES
When the control is equipped, as well as the mechanical lock (lock), even micro-switches; connect the
terminal block following the wiring diagram. It is essential to connect the electrical block especially if
the wheel of drive performs more than one turn at each position. If present, also connect the micro-
switches for the remote transmission of the positions.
MAINTENANCE
During the maintenance of the transformer or at least once a year is recommended (although not a
requirement), especially if the switch remained in the same position, with the transformer de-energised,
to carry at least 10 operations across the range of taps. Such operation is recommended for a longer life
of the switch. In this way, you avoid the formation of a thin film in correspondence of the active part of the
fixed and moving contacts, due to oxidation and impurities dispersed in the oil.
It also protects against the formation of "pyrolitic" carbon formation that can occur when the contacts
remain on a position for long periods with a consequent increase of the contact resistance. Before and
after this self-cleaning of the contacts may be useful to check the efficiency of the switch by means of a
resistance measurement (mΩ) of the phases.
EXTRACTION OF ACTIVE PART FROM THE TANK
Drive on the cover:
No need to disconnect the switch from the cover or from the active part, but only reduce the oil level below
the top of the case.
Drive on top of transformer wall:
No need to disconnect the switch from the active part of the transformer but only reduce the oil level below
the level of drive and remove the removable part of the drive.
Drive on tank wall through bevel gears and shafts:
No need to disconnect the switch from the active part, but only reduce the oil level below the level of the
reference and remove the removable part of the court itself, or unplug the box section (25x25) close to the
reference.
Note: For drive and/or bevel gears with removable shafts, do not need to remove the oil but only partially
remove the shaft of the bevel gear/control.
• The tap changer is not a finished product;
• It is subject to further handling and treatment;
• Store in a dry and dust clean environment;
• Handle with care;
• Perform proper installation;
• The Bakelite, the pressboard and polyamide parts are relatively fragile and delicate materials;
• Lubricate the contacts with dielectric oil both before and after treatments;
• Do not operate when the switch is still hot, just after the drying process;
• After drying process check out and fix all the loose screws due to the shrinkage of Bakelite /
Pressboard dehydrated;
• Block the connections so that the weight of the connections themselves do not force on the
switch;
• The installation of the switch must be performed in a competent manner, making sure that the
supports of the substrate and intermediate brackets bakelite (when present) do not force the
switch itself.
