APPLICATION
(Use only for the purposes listed below.)
1. Cleaning of yards, garages, shop, porches, patios, etc.
SWITCH (Fig. 1)
This appliance is equipped with an on/off switch (1). To turn the unit on,
push the switch up (direction A). And to turn the unit off, push the switch
down (direction B).
SPEED ADJUSTMENT (RESV-1610V only) (Fig. 2)
The air speed of this appliance can be adjusted.
Turning the speed adjustment volume (16) in the direction A increases the
air speed, and turning it in the direction B decreases the air speed.
ATTACHING AND REMOVING THE NOZZLE (Fig. 3, 4)
1. Loosen the two screws (2) with a screwdriver (+).
Do not remove the screws completely so that the nuts on the opposite
sides won't get lost.
2. Insert the nozzle (3) all the way into the nozzle opening.
3. Tighten the two screws firmly.
4. When removing the nozzle, loosen the two screws and pull out the
nozzle.
WARNING!
Do not connect the power supply before attaching the nozzle.
ATTACHING AND REMOVING THE DUST BAG
(Fig. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
CAUTION!
Do not use the appliance in the vacuum mode without the dust bag (4)
in place.
1. Attach the dust bag tube (5) to the dust exhaust opening (6) of the
motor housing. (Fig. 5)
At this time, attach the dust bag tube so that the projections (7) of the
dust bag tube will enter the holes (8) of the motor housing. (Fig. 5, 6)
2. Attach the dust bag hook (9) to the hooked part (10) of the lower part
of the nozzle. (Fig.7)
3. When removing the dust bag, detach its hook from the nozzle, and
pull the dust bag tube off the motor housing, while pressing the flaps
(11) on both sides of the tube simultaneously. (Fig. 8, 9)
NOTE!
When the flaps come away from the hole, reduce the pressure on the
flaps.
SHOULDER STRAP (Fig. 10, 11)
1. Attach the metal fixture (13) of the shoulder strap (12) to the hole of
the upper part of the handle.
2. The length of the shoulder strap is adjustable, so adjust it to a
convenient length.
EXTENSION CORD (Fig. 12)
MAKE SURE THE EXTENSION CORD SET IS IN GOOD CONDITION.
1. Use an appropriate extension cord the connect to power. See
"ELECTRICAL SAFETY WARNINGS" for recommended cords.
2. Secure the extension cord to the motor housing as shown in fig. 12.
OPERATING
NEVER COVER AIR VENTS (14) SINCE THEY MUST ALWAYS BE OPEN
FOR PROPER MOTOR COOLING. (Fig.13)
WARNING!
Do not use on a wet surface or in the rain.
Set the mode change-over lever (15) to the blower mode or vacuum mode.
When the lever is in the UP position, the appliance is in the vacuum mode,
and when the lever is in the DOWN position, the appliance is in the blower
mode. (Fig. 14)
CAUTION! (Fig. 15)
Do not use the appliance when the lever is set in a halfway position.
When using the appliance in the vacuum mode, raise the mode change-
over lever all the way up.
When using the appliance in the blower mode, lower the mode change-
over lever all the way down.
OPERATING AS A BLOWER (Fig. 16, 17, 18)
Set the mode change-over lever to the DOWN position (blower mode).
Hold the appliance as shown in Fig. 16, 17 and 18 and sweep from side to
side with the nozzle a few inches above the ground or floor. Move the
appliance slowly, while accumulating a pile of debris.
1. Use the appliance as a blower for trees, shrubs, flower beds and hard
to clean areas. (Fig. 16)
2. Use the appliance as a blower around buildings and for other normal
cleaning. (Fig. 17)
3. Use the appliance as a blower for walls, overhangs and screens. (Fig. 18)
OPERATING AS A VACUUM (Fig. 19, 20)
Set the mode change-over lever to the UP position (vacuum mode).
Hold the appliance as shown in Fig. 19, tilting the nozzle slightly, and use a
sweeping action to collect light debris.
The debris will flow into the dust bag. Things such as leaves and small
twigs will be mulched as they pass through the fan housing, allowing the
dust bag to hold a lot of debris (Fig. 20).
When the dust bag gets full, suction will noticeably decrease. Turn off and
unplug the appliance before you unzip the dust bag.
Unzip the bag and empty the contents before continuing.
WARNING!
When the impeller in the motor housing is clogged with twigs, nylon
bags, etc, turn off and unplug the appliance, remove the nozzle and
then remove the obstruction.
MAINTENANCE
After use, check the appliance to make sure that it is in top condition.
It is recommended that you take this appliance to a RYOBI Authorized
Service Center for a thorough cleaning and lubrication at least once a year.
DO NOT MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS WHILE THE MOTOR IS IN
MOTION.
CLEANING THE APPLIANCE
1. Use a small brush to keep the air vents free of obstructions.
2. Do not use any strong detergents on the plastic housing or the handle.
They can be damaged by certain household cleaners that contain
aromatic oils such as pine and lemon, and by solvents such as
kerosene. Moisture can also cause electric shocks. Wipe off any
moisture with a soft cloth.
CLEANING THE DUST BAG
1. Empty the dust bag after each use to avoid deterioration and
obstruction of the air flow which will reduce the performance of the
appliance.
2. Clean the dust bag as needed. With eye protection on, turn the dust
bag inside out after initial emptying and vigorously shake out the dust
and debris.
Wash the dust bag once a year or sooner if necessary as follows.
1. Unzip the dust bag and remove the dust bag tube from the inside of
dust bag.
2. Turn the dust bag inside out.
3. Hang up.
4. Hose down thoroughly.
5. Hang to dry.
6. Reinstall the dust bag tube.
WARNING!
To ensure safety and reliability, all repairs should be performed by an
AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER or other QUALIFIED SERVICE
ORGANIZATION.
