Readings should be similar in all the cylinders.
Check if the compression level is the same as the specified by engine manufacturer.
Gauge needle does not move or it remains still for
several strokes and then starts to move

Plug spark plugs in the same place they were connected.
Plug spark plug wires in the same place they were connected.
Set throttle plates to close position.
Plug ignition wire to the distributor.

Ask an assistant to crank the engine until the pressure in mano-
meter stops to increase.
In each compression stroke, the needle should move until get-
ting to a maximum value.
Write down the reading and press the lateral release valve to
release the pressure.
Repeat again the test and write down the reading.
Repeat the two readings in each spark plug well.
READING
Stuck valve in the cylinder.
There is a leakage in the cylinder head
gasket. Coolant liquid may be present
in the cylinders.
Worn valves.
Worn piston rings.
Carbon build up in the cylinder.
