• Cut o nly g rass, weeds, and woody
brush u pto1/2 inch (1 cm) i ndiameter

stumps, rocks, fences, metal, etc., or
clusters ofhard, woody brush with a
diameter
greater than 1/2 inch (1cm).
• Use asharp b lade. Adull b lade i s
more l ikely t osnag and thrust.
• Cut o nly atfull t hrottle. The blade w ill
have maximum
cutting power and is
less likely t obind orstall.
• "Feed" the blade d eliberately
and not
too rapidly. The blade c an thrust
away i fitisfed too rapidly.
• Cut o nly from your l eft t oyour r ight.
Cutting onright side ofthe shield w ill
throw debris away f rom the operator.
• Use the shoulder strap a nd keep a
firm grip onthe unit w ith both hands.
Aproperly adjusted shoulder strap
will s upport the weight ofthe unit,
freeing your a rms a nd hands tocon-
trol a nd guide t he cutting motion.
• Keep f eet c omfortably
spread apart
and braced forapossible
sudden,
rapid t hrust ofunit. Do not o verreach.
Keep f irm footing and balance.
• Keep b lade b elow w aist level. Itwill
beeasier tomaintain control ofunit.
• Donot r aise t he engine above y our
waist asthe blade c an come d anger-
ously c lose t oyour b ody.
• Donot s wing t he unit w ith such force
that y ou are indanger oflosing your
balance.
Bring t he powerhead
engine tocutting
speed b efore entering the material to
becut.
Ifthe blade d oes n ot t urn when y ou
squeeze the throttle trigger ofthe pow-
erhead, make s ure the attachment
is
fully inserted into the coupler.
Always release the throttle trigger and
allow powerhead
engine toreturn t o
idle speed w hen n ot c utting. The blade
should n ot t urn while t he engine isrun-
ning atidle. I fthe blade t urns a tidle,

• Maintain good f irm footing while us-
ing the unit. Do this byplanting feet
