Warning: When going down a curb, the front wheels should be raised to prevent the occu-
pant from falling off. These are recommendations only; they may not be suitable for all cases.
IMPORTANT ASPECTS TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT
The user or caregiver should check the safety of the wheelchair at regular intervals.
1. Check the handgrips and non-skid tires and make sure that they are solid and secure.
2. For a correct fit, check the locking devices and make sure that the large wheels are locked when they
are activated.
3. Look at all bolts, nuts and joints to check that they remain solid.
4. If the wheelchair is equipped with pneumatic tires, check that the tire pressure is adequate.
5. Check that the adjusted length of the footrest is appropriate.
6. If other conditions affecting safety are present, stop using the wheelchair.
7. Remember to engage the wheelchair lock before transferring to or from the wheelchair.
8. Do not lean forward out of the wheelchair unless both feet are on the floor. This is especially impor-
tant for users with heavy casts with elevated foot rests.
