DESCRIPTION
This is a manual covering the whole range analogue hand refrectometers that Optika has to offer.
Which model to chose depends on the type of liquid that you want to analyse and the concentration
range of interest. The refractometers are all delivered with a small screwdriver and a pipette for te-
sting liquids.
Optika reminds you that this manual contains important information on safety and maintenance, and
that it must therefore be made accessible to the instrument users. Optika declines any responsibility
deriving from instrument uses that do not comply with this manual.
We recommend that you to begin by reading the Precautions and Maintenance section and then
proceed with the instructions for your specific instrument.
PRECAUTIONS AND MAINTENANCE
To have an accurate measurement it is important to have made a precise calibration. Follow the
calibration instructions strictly. Note: Shifts in environment room temperature of the prism prior to
measurement. The prism and sample must be at the same temperature for accurate results.

Do not expose the instrument to damp working conditions, and do not immerse the instru-
ment in water. If the instrument becomes foggy, water has entered the body. Call a qualified
service technician or contact your dealer.

Do not measure abrasive or corrosive chemicals with this instrument. They can damage the
prism's coating.
•
Clean the instrument between each measurement using a soft, damp cloth. Failure to clean
the prism on a regular basis will lead to inaccurate results and damage to the prism's coa-
ting.
•
This is an optical instrument. It requires careful handling and storage. Failure to do so can re-
sult in damage to the optical components and its basic structure. With the right maintenance,
this instrument will provide years of reliable service.
