The SP helmet has been designed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/425 based on the
application of the corresponding sections in standards EN 397:2012+A1:2012 and EN 50365:2002.
Notified body responsible for the EU-type examination:
0161 AITEX Plaza Emilio Sala, 1 E038001 Alcoy (Alicante) – Spain
Body intervening in production control (Module C2):

CLASSES OF PROTECTION AND USAGE LIMITS
This helmet has been designed to protect the head in industrial environments and work susceptible
to having electrical discharges of up to 1000 VAC. It has been designed to absorb the energy of an
impact by the destruction of or partial damage to the shell and the harness. Even if the damage is
not immediately visible, any helmet that has been subject to significant impact should be replaced.
The electrically insulating helmet should not be used alone and will be combined with other
protective equipment according to the risks of the work to be carried out.The user should verify that
the electrical limits of the helmet correspond to the nominal voltage that can be found in the work.
Working temperatures must be within the following values: – 10ºC/+ 50 ºC.
INSTRUCTIONS CORRECT USE OF THE HELMET
For adequate protection, this helmet must be of a size that fits the user's head perfectly or be
adjusted to fit. The helmet should be placed on the user's head so that the headband is adjusted to
the perimeter of the skull and the sweatband is on the forehead. For protection to be effective, the
nape strap should be adjusted so that the helmet is securely attached to the user's head.
There are three adjustable height positions. Under no circumstances should the helmet be altered to
secure any accessories not recommended by the manufacturer. It is not recommended to use
insulating helmets in situations where there is a risk that could partially reduce their insulating
properties. This helmet must not be used in circumstances which could partially reduce its insulating
properties. If the helmet is dirty or contaminated (oil, paint, tar, etc.), especially on the outside, it
should be cleaned carefully, following the cleaning and disinfection instructions.
REVISION
Before using this piece of equipment, it should be checked to ensure that the anchoring points of the
headband are perfectly secure, and the shock-absorbing bands are in a good state.
STORAGE AND TRANSPORT
Before first use and when not in use, this equipment should be kept in its original packaging, or
lacking this, in a bag. The helmet should be kept in a dry place, away from sources of heat,
chemical substances and abrasives, as well as out of direct sunlight. Storage conditions are
important to preserve its protective capacity.
Storage temperatures are recommended to be kept at around 20 ± 15ºC.
DISINFECTION AND CLEANING
For cleaning, maintenance or disinfection, only use substances that do not damage the helmet or
harm its user.
Neutral detergent and warm water can be used for the shell as well as the harness. Abrasive
products or solvent should not be used for cleaning.
SERVICE LIFE
The theoretical service life of the helmet is five years from the manufacturing date (See the date
under the peak).
The actual service life of the equipment will depend on the intensity, frequency, environment,
competence of the user, as well as how it is maintained and stored, etc.
It is preferable to assign a helmet to a single user, so that this person will know its history.
In any case, if the helmet has suffered a significant impact or if it displays faults or cracks, it should
be immediately replaced.
SPARE PARTS
The harness of the helmet can be replaced. This harness is black, and it is inserted into the shell in
the six slots available for this purpose. The sweatband can also be replaced. Both parts can be
ordered from the manufacturer, indicating that they are for a SOFAMEL helmet model SP.
