3.3 Placing the Ear Sensor
Disinfect the ear of the animal before applying the ear tag and ear sensor in order

to prevent infection. Use alcohol or chloric hexedine. Disinfection wipes (as used
with dry-off) can be used as well.
Place the ear sensor in the ear. When you look at the ear, the ear sensor needs to

be placed between the two cartilage ridges and at 1/2 to 1/3, towards the head of
the cow (see illustration above). This is the thicker part of the ear.
4 Make sure the ear sensor is always positioned correctly in the ear. Choose the ear
with the most space, without other ear tags interfering, and do not attach the ear
sensor on the same side as the moving part of the headlock.
Make sure that the correct ear sensor is linked to the correct cow. You can easily
