ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR
CHROMONICA PLAYERS
Additional contents:
1. Tube of Hohner wind saver glue (6)
2. Set of Hohner wind savers (valves) (7)
Chromonica reeds are tuned in exactly the same way as diatonic reeds,
but it is important to ensure that the wind savers are in place before
commencing tuning operations. Wind savers (P1, 7) are small plastic val-
ves which automatically close the slot of the reed which is not being
played to prevent unnecessary air loss. Wind savers need to be replaced
from time to time. If this is the case, replace them before you tune your
harmonica, since the presence or absence of wind savers will affect the
tuning.
If a reed which is correctly mounted makes a buzzing noise when played,
the corresponding wind saver is probably bent up or worn out and must
be replaced:
1. Remove the old wind saver and any
traces of glue. You can use the scraper
(1) to roughen the surface a little and
improve adhesion.
2. Put a small amount of glue (6) in the
indentation on the rough side of the
wind saver (P2), and mount it over the
end of the slot, with the indentation on
the rivet.
3. Allow to dry for 1 hour before playing/tuning.
The wind saver should not be more than 0,5 mm longer than the slot;
otherwise it will tend to stick to the reed plate (select the correct length
or adjust by cutting). Only a minimum of glue should be used. Excess
glue can get into the slot and block the reed. Note that wind savers must
lie flat on the reed plate.
CAUTION:
Hohner accepts no liability for damage to instruments incurred during
tuning, adjusting or repair operations.
AVERTISSEMENT:
