Reduce noise generation and vibration to a
minimum!
Use only equipment that is in perfect
condition.
Maintain and clean the equipment regularly.
Adapt your way of working to the equipment.
Do not overload the equipment.
Have the equipment checked if necessary.
Switch off the equipment when not in use.
Wear gloves.
5. Before starting the equipment
Before you connect the equipment to the power
source make sure that the data on the rating plate
are identical to the power data.
Warning!
Always remove the power plug from the
power source before making adjustments to
the equipment.
5.1 Assembly of the bar and the saw chain
Carefully unpack all parts and check that they
are complete (Fig. 2-3).
Undo the chain tension lock knob of the chain
wheel cover (Fig. 4).
Take off the chain wheel cover (Fig. 5).
Lay the chain as shown in the groove which
runs around the bar (Fig. 6/See arrow).
Insert the bar and chain as shown in the
mounting in the chain saw. At the same time
guide the chain around the chain sprocket
wheel (Fig. 7 and 8/Item 12).
Reinstall the chain wheel cover and secure
it with the chain tension lock knob (Fig. 9).
Important! Do not fully tighten the chain
tension lock knob until after you have
adjusted the chain tension (see section 5.2).
5.2 Tensioning the saw chain
Warning! Always disconnect the power plug from
the power source before performing any checks
or adjustments. Always wear protective gloves
when working on the chain saw to protect yourself
against injury.
Undo the chain tension lock knob of the chain
wheel cover a few turns (Fig. 4).
Adjust the chain tension with the chain
tensioning knob (Fig. 10/Item 10). Turning the
knob clockwise increases the chain tension,
turning it counterclockwise decreases the
chain tension. The chain tension is correct
when the chain can be lifted by about 0.12"-

0.16" at the center of the bar (Fig. 11).
Tighten the chain tension lock knob of the
chain wheel cover (Fig. 9).
Danger! All the chain links must lie properly in
the guide groove of the bar.
Notes on tensioning the chain:
The chain must be properly tensioned to ensure
safe operation. You can tell that the chain tension
is adjusted properly if the saw chain can be lifted
by around 0.12"-0.16" in the middle of the bar.
As the saw chain heats up during cutting, it
changes in length, please check the chain tension
every 10 minutes and adjust it again as required.
This applies in particular to new saw chains.
When you have fi nished working, loosen the
chain again as it will shorten when it cools down.
This will help to prevent damage to the chain.
5.3 Saw chain lubrication
Warning! Always disconnect the power plug from
the power source before performing any checks
or adjustments. Always wear protective gloves
when working on the chain saw to protect yourself
against injury.
Important! Never operate the chain if it is not
lubricated with saw chain oil. Use of the chain saw
without saw chain oil or if the oil level is below the
"min" mark (Fig. 12/See arrow) will damage the
chain saw.
Important! Be aware of the temperature
conditions: Diff erent lubricants with completely
diff erent viscosities are required at diff erent
ambient temperatures. At lower temperatures you
will need low viscosity oils in order to achieve a
suffi cient lubricating fi lm. However, if the same
low viscosity oil is used during the summer, it
will become even thinner due to the ambient
temperatures alone. As a result, the lubricating
fi lm could break down, causing the chain to
overheat and become damaged. In addition, the
chain oil would burn and produce unnecessary
pollutants.
Filling the oil tank:
Place the chain saw on a flat surface.
Clean the area around the oil tank cap (Fig.
12/Item 7) and then open the oil tank cap.
Fill the tank with saw chain oil. In the process,
make sure that no dirt enters the tank, as
this could cause the oil nozzle to become
blocked.
Close the oil tank cap.
