socket (16). The loudspeakers are then switched off.

TONE LOW/HI (10):
1. Push the holding switch (3) to the OFF position.
2. Please press the band selector switch FM / POWER ON (7). The FM con-
trol lamp (6) shows the machine is on standby.
3. Turn the volume control (9) to set the volume high enough so that you can
clearly hear a hiss or a station that has already been set.
4. Select the desired band with the band selector buttons (5/7) (see frequency
table under "Technical Data").
5. Extend the telescopic antenna (15) and turn it until reception improves.
6. With the frequency range switch (12) you can select the frequency range of the
SW band (SW = shortwave), which is divided up into 10 sections.
7. With the TUNING control (8) you can tune in to the desired station. The current
frequency is displayed on the station scale (14).
8. Once a station has been correctly set, the red TUNE control lamp (2) lights up.
9. After use, press the POWER OFF button (1) to switch the device off.
NOTE: The TUNE control lamp only lights up in the FM band or in the case of
strong interference transmitters as it is not possible for recognition to take place
between the transmission signal and the interference signal (this is usually noticea-
ble due to the strong hiss). If you are inside a building or on a train, place the devi-
ce near a window in order to improve reception.
