The pump may only be operated on an elec-
trical installation in accordance with DIN/VDE
0100, parts 737, 738 and 702. For fuse pro-
tection, a circuit breaker of 10 A and an earth
leakage circuit breaker with a rated leakage
current of 10/30 mA must be installed.
Only use extension leads approved for out-
door use with a minimum cross-section of
2
1.5 mm
. Always fully unwind cable drums.
Damaged or fragile extension cables may not
be used.
Check the condition of your extension
lead prior to every use.
If the connection cable must be extended,
only a cable type H07RN-F and a moulded
sleeve must be used. This work must only be
carried out by an electrician.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be re-
placed by the manufacturer, its service agent
or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid
a hazard.
4 INSTALLATION
4.1
Install the pump
1. Prepare a level and sturdy installation loca-
tion.
2. Install the pump horizontally and where it will
not be flooded.
3. If necessary, bolt down the pump at the bolt-
ing points (7).
The pump must be protected from rain and
direct water jets.
IMPORTANT! Risk of flooding! In the event of
faults in the pump, water can escape and cause
consequential damage due to flooding.
Take appropriate measures to avoid conse-
quential damage caused by flooding in the
event of faults in the pump.
4.2
Connect the suction line
NOTE We recommend the installation of
flexible lines at the pump inlet to prevent me-
chanical pressure or tension being exerted on the
pump.
1. Select the length of the suction line such that
the pump cannot run dry. The suction line
must always be at least 30 cm under the wa-
ter surface.
18
2. Connect the suction line. Ensure that the
connection is tight, but take care not to dam-
age the thread.
3. If the water carries a small amount of sand, a
pre-filter must be installed between suction
line and pump inlet. Ask your expert dealer
about this.
4. Always lay the suction line with an upward
gradient.
NOTE If the suction head is more than 4 m,
a suction hose with a diameter larger than 1"
must be installed. We recommend the use of an
AL-KO suction unit with suction hose, suction fil-
ter and flow-back stop. Ask your specialist dealer.
4.3
Install pressure line
1. Screw connecting nipple (16) with round seal
ring (17) into pump outlet (4).
2. Screw elbow nipple (14) with seal (15) onto
connecting nipple (16) and turn the elbow
nipple in the required direction.
3. Connect pressure line (13) to elbow nipple
(14).
4. Open all shut-off devices (valves, spray noz-
zles, water cock) in the pressure line.
5 START-UP
5.1
Check the air pressure in the storage
vessel
IMPORTANT! Danger of damage to the de-
vice. The pump may only be operated with a dia-
phragm storage pressure of 1.5 - 1.7 bar in the
storage vessel. Other diaphragm storage pres-
sures can cause equipment damage.
Check the air pressure at the valve on the
back of the storage vessel before commis-
sioning.
1. Open shut-off device in pressure line (13).
2. Push valve cover (28) on the rear of the stor-
age vessel upwards.
3. Check the air pressure at the valve using an
air pump or tyre filler equipped with a pres-
sure gauge.
4. Correct the air pressure to 1.5 - 1.7 bar, if
necessary.
5. Close valve cover on the rear of the storage
vessel again.
6. Putting the pump into operation.
