For your safety
Intended use
The HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) of the TX700 family are used to control,
operate and monitor machine processes. The high brightness versions of the
TX700 series are designed for use in very bright environments due to their high
sunlight readability.
The device may only be used as described in these instructions.
Any other use is not in accordance with the intended use. Turck accepts no li-
ability for any resulting damage.
General safety notes
The device may only be assembled, installed, operated, parameterized and
maintained by professionally-trained personnel.
The device meets the EMC requirements for the industrial areas. When used
in residential areas, take measures to prevent radio frequency interference.
The device may only be used in accordance with applicable national and
international regulations, standards and laws.
Notes on explosion protection
Observe national and international regulations for explosion protection.
When operating the device in a hazardous area, the user must have a working
knowledge of explosion protection (IEC/EN 60079-14, etc.).
Only use the device within the permitted operating and ambient conditions
(see Certification data and conditions resulting from the Ex-approval).
This device, with the exception of the front display, is an open device and
must be installed in a housing suitable for the environment, so that the inner
part of the device is only accessible by means of a tool.
Do not disconnect devices in an ignitable atmosphere when energized.
Do not open the device when energized.
Do not remove Ethernet connections, USB devices and SD cards in an ignit-
able atmosphere.
Do not remove the battery in an ignitable atmosphere.
Switch-off the device before replacing or wiring extension modules.
Note on explosion protection (USA and Canada only)
The devices are suitable for the use in Class I, Division 2, groups A, B, C and D
(hazardous locations and non-hazardous locations).
The power, input and output (I/O) wiring has to be done in accordance with
Class I, Division 2 and in accordance with the authority having jurisdictions.
For U.S. in accordance with Article 501.10 (B) of the National Electrical Code,
NFPA 70 and for Canada in accordance with Section 18-1J2 of Canadian
Electrical Code.
Use only components that meet Class I, Division 2 certification.
Observe the conditions resulting from Ex approval for use in Zone 2 and 22.
Special conditions of use
Zone 2 (EPL Gc):
ű
The equipment shall only be used in an area of not more than pollution degree
2, as defined in IEC/EN 60664-1.
ű
The equipment shall be installed through an end-equipment enclosure
that provides a minimum ingress protection of IP54 in accordance with
EN IEC 60079-0, suitable for the applicable gas group, temperature classifica-
tion and ambient temperature range.
ű
Transient protection shall be provided that is set at a level not exceeding 140 %
of the peak rated voltage value at the supply terminals to the equipment.
Zone 22 (EPL Dc):
ű
The equipment shall be installed through an end-equipment enclosure
that provides a minimum ingress protection of IP6x in accordance with
EN IEC 60079-0, suitable for the applicable dust group, temperature classifica-
tion and ambient temperature.
Observe the permissible ambient temperature depending on the temperature
class.
Care shall be taken not to allow layers of dust to form on the graphic panel in a
way that might cause the accumulation of static charges.
The devices have only been evaluated for low risk of mechanical impact.
