320-E Press Tool

Troubleshooting

SYMPTOM
Tool will not turn on when
ON/OFF button on display
panel is pressed.
Tool turns off either when
trigger is depressed or in
the middle of a press cy-
cle. Red LED and audible
alarm blinks/beeps 5 sec-
onds then goes continu-
ous for 5 seconds.
Yellow LED blinks
repeatedly as long as
tool is turned on and
tool functions properly.
Yellow LED glows con-
tinuously and tool will
not begin press cycle
when trigger switch is
depressed.
Red LED blinks repeated-
ly and tool will not begin
press cycle when trigger
switch is depressed.
Red LED and audible
alarm blinks/beeps for 5
seconds (approximately
13 times) at the end of a
press.
Red LED and audible
alarm blinks/beeps for 5
seconds (approximately
13 times) at the end of a
press cycle (applicable
only to ProPress
®
XL
actuator style presses).
Red LED and yellow LED
both glow continuously
when tool is turned ON.
POSSIBLE REASONS
Battery is completely discharged or battery has
failed.
Battery not properly inserted into handle of tool.
Battery is too low.
Scheduled maintenance/recalibration is required
after 20,000 press cycles.
Scheduled maintenance/recalibration is manda-
tory after 22,000 press cycles. Tool is "locked"
and will not function until tool is serviced.
Jaw mounting pin not fully closed.
Temperature out of range.
Obstruction prevented jaw tips or rings from
closing.
Jaw arms, actuator arms or sideplates are
cracked.
Jaw set was not properly calibrated by conducting
one press cycle with an empty jaw set.
Internal failure of 320-E Press Tool which pre-
vents tool from producing proper pressing force.
Tool was not properly calibrated with empty
RIDGID R2 Actuator jaw (no press ring) after
tool was turned on.
Internal failure of 320-E Press Tool which pre-
vents tool from producing proper pressing force.
Six (6) consecutive times tool did not produce prop-
er pressing force or tool exceeded allowable press
cycle time.

SOLUTION
Insert fully charged battery/recharge dead battery.
Check to assure battery is fully inserted.
Insert fully charged battery/recharge dead battery.

Insert jaw mounting pin to the fully closed position.
Bring tool oil to the range of 23°F (-5°C) to 122°F
(50°C).
Remove obstruction and repress the fitting.
Discard cracked jaw set and repress fitting with
new jaw set.
Remove battery or jaw mounting pin, reinsert,
repeat calibration process and then repress the
fitting.

repeat calibration process with empty RIDGID R2
Actuator to disable jaw closure detection. Then,
repress the fitting.

Remove and reinsert fully charged battery. If LED's
continue to glow, contact Ridge Tool Company,
