WARNING:
•
Read the instruction manual of the tool before using the dust collecting wheel guard with the tool.
•
Do not use the dust collecting wheel guard other than for the models listed in this manual.
•
Dust collecting wheel guard is only for use in grinding flat concrete with a cup-type diamond wheel. Do not use the dust
collecting wheel guard with grinding stones or for any purpose other than mentioned.
•
Be sure to use a genuine Makita cup-type diamond wheel.
•
The rated speed of the accessory must be at least equal to the maximum speed marked on the tool.
•
Before attaching the dust collecting wheel guard, switch off the tool and remove the battery or unplug the tool.
•
Make sure that the dust collecting wheel guard is securely locked by the lock lever with one of the holes on the dust
collecting wheel guard.
•
Inspect the dust collecting wheel guard thoroughly before use to ensure that it is not damaged, cracked and/or
deformed.
•
Be sure to use protective equipment such as protective goggles, dust mask, safety shoes and earplugs when using the
tool.
•
Do not connect anything other than a hose of a vacuum cleaner to the dust collecting wheel guard.
•
Never apply gasoline, benzene, thinner, alcohol or the like to the dust collecting wheel guard.
Installing dust collecting wheel guard
1.
Remove the grinder disc and the wheel cover from the tool.
2.
Make sure that the front-edge cover is in the closed position.
3.
While pushing the lock lever, mount the wheel guard with the protrusions on the wheel guard aligned with the notches
on the bearing box. (Fig.4)

While pushing the lock lever toward A, push in the wheel guard by holding down the portions B as shown in Fig.5. (Push
down the wheel guard straight. Otherwise, you cannot push the wheel guard completely.)

While keeping the lock lever and wheel guard position as described in step 4, rotate the wheel guard toward C, and
then, change the angle of the wheel guard according to the work. (Fig.6) (Push the wheel guard completely. Otherwise,
you cannot rotate the wheel guard.)

As shown in Fig.7, flip the lock nut according to the thickness of the cup-type diamond wheel.
Concrete planing operation
Hold the tool firmly with both hands, and apply the bottom of the cup-type diamond wheel to the workpiece.
Planing in corners
To plane corners, open the front-edge cover by sliding in the directions of the arrows as shown in Fig.2. Slide the front-edge
cover completely so that the front-edge cover does not return to closed position. To plane other than corners, return the front-
edge cover to closed position. (Fig.3)
NOTICE: If it is hard to open / close the front-edge cover due to clogging of dust or the like, open / close the front-edge cover
by inserting a slotted screwdriver or similar as shown in the figure and turning it. (Fig.8)
Replacing of dust cover brushes
Worn dust cover brushes can be replaced. Ask Makita Authorized or Factory Service Center for replacing.
Connecting to cleaner
NOTICE: Do not connect the nozzle to anything other than the hose of the cleaner. The other accessory, like dust bag,
may ignite by hot chip.
Connect the nozzle to the hose of the cleaner. (Fig.9)
