6.2. Battery operation – inserting/replacing the bat-
teries in the device
The battery compartment is located on the underside of the device.
Release both latches and remove the battery compartment cover.
Insert six 1.5 V R14/LR14/C batteries (not supplied) with the negative ends on the
springs. Refer to the diagram in the battery compartment!
Replace the battery compartment cover. The latches must be locked into place.
The device is battery-operated if no mains cable is connected to the A C I N .
The device is now in standby mode.
WARNING!
Risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrectly.
Replace batteries only with the same or equivalent
type.
6.3. Mains operation – connecting the mains cable
Connect the supplied mains cable to the A C ~ socket on the back of the device.
Plug the mains cable into an easily accessible 100-240 V~, 50/60 Hz mains socket.
The device is mains-operated even if batteries are inserted at the same time.
7. Switching on the device/standby
Press the
button to switch on the device. The display lights up.
To switch the device back to standby mode, press and hold the

If there is no playback for 15 minutes, the devices automatically switches to standby
mode.
8. Volume
Control the volume with the V O L U M E - /+ controller.
9. Radio
To switch to radio mode, press the
required until FM is shown on the display.
There is a telescopic aerial on the back of the device. Fully extend the aerial and
turn or swivel it for optimum radio reception.
9.1. Tuning the stations
Press the T U N - or T U N + button briefly to set a particular frequency.
Hold down one of the buttons to automatically search for the next station.
