READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS
•
KNOW YOUR POWER SAW. Read the user manual carefully. Learn the operations that the saw can be used for and
its limitations as well as the potential hazards associated with this saw.
•
GUARD AGAINST ELECTRICAL SHOCK by preventing bodily contact with earthed surfaces. For example: pipes,
radiators, cookers or refrigerators.
•
KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN. Cluttered work areas invite accidents.
•
AVOID DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENTS. Do not use the power saw in damp or wet locations or places exposed to rain.
Keep work area well lit.
•
KEEP CHILDREN AND SPECTATORS AWAY. All spectators should wear safety glasses and be kept at a safe distance
from the work area. Do not let spectators touch the saw.
•
PUT YOUR SAW AWAY AFTER USE. When not in use, the saw should be stored in a dry locked place, out of the reach
of children.
•
DO NOT FORCE YOUR SAW. Your saw will be more efficient and safer when used at the speed for which it was
designed.
•
WEAR PROPER CLOTHES. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery that can be caught in moving parts and cause
personal injury. Rubber gloves and non-skid footwear are recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair
covering to contain long hair and keep it from being drawn into the air intakes.
•
ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. Ordinary eyeglasses have only impact-resistant lenses; they are NOT safety
glasses.
•
PROTECT YOUR LUNGS. Wear a face mask or dust mask if the cutting operation generates dust.
•
PROTECT YOUR EARS. Wear ear protectors if using the saw for extended periods.
•
SECURE YOUR WORKPIECE. Use clamps or a vice to hold your workpiece. This is safer than using your hand and
allows the saw to be operated with both hands.
•
KEEP YOUR BALANCE. Keep well balanced and your feet firmly on the ground at all times. Do not use your tool while
standing on a ladder or any other unstable support.
•
MAINTAIN THE SAW IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. Keep the blades sharp and clean at all times for safety and
the best results. Follow the instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
•
REMOVE THE ALLEN KEY. Get into the habit of checking that the Allen key has been removed from the saw before
turning the saw on.
•
NEVER USE YOUR SAW IN AN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE. In normal operation, the motor produces sparks that could
ignite flammable liquids, gases or vapours.
•
KEEP HANDLES CLEAN AND FREE FROM OIL AND GREASE. Always use a clean cloth to clean your saw. Never
use brake fluid, petrol, petroleum-based products or strong solvents to clean your saw.
•
STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing and use common sense. Do not operate your saw when you are tired. Do not
rush.
•
CHECK DAMAGED PARTS AND ACCESSORIES. If a part of the saw is damaged, check that it can continue to work
and perform its function correctly before continuing to use the saw. Check the alignment of the moving parts. Check
that no part is broken. Check the assembly and anything else that might affect the operation of the saw. A guard or other
part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by a Ryobi Authorised Service Centre.
•
DO NOT USE THE SAW IF THE ON/OFF SWITCH DOES NOT TURN IT ON AND OFF. Have defective switches
replaced by a Ryobi Authorised Service Centre.
•
DRUGS, ALCOHOL, MEDICATION. Do not use your saw if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or if you
are taking medications.
•
CUTTING INTO ELECTRICAL WIRING IN WALLS AND FLOORS CAN CAUSE THE BLADE AND METAL PARTS
TO BECOME LIVE. Do not touch metal parts when cutting into walls and floors. Hold the saw only by the insulated
handles. Make sure that there are no concealed electrical cables, water pipes or armature in the cutting line when cutting
into a wall or floor.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BATTERY-POWERED SAWS
•
Bear in mind that battery-powered saws are always ready to operate as they do not have to be plugged into an electrical
socket. Be aware of the risks when carrying your battery-operated saw, when making adjustments to it or when changing
accessories.
•
REMOVE THE BATTERY PACK FROM THE TOOL BEFORE MAKING ANY ADJUSTMENTS, CHANGING
ACCESSORIES OR STORING THE TOOL. This safety precaution reduces the risk of the tool starting accidentally.
•
USE ONLY THE CHARGER PROVIDED WITH YOUR BATTERY PACK. Do not replace the original charger with any
other charger. The use of another charger could cause batteries to explode and result in serious personal injury.
•
DO NOT PLACE BATTERY-OPERATED SAWS OR THEIR BATTERIES NEAR FIRE OR A HEAT SOURCE. They may
explode.
•
DO NOT CHARGE A BATTERY-OPERATED SAW IN A DAMP OR WET LOCATION.
•
Your battery-operated tool should be charged in a location where the temperature is between 50°F (10°C) and 104°F
(40°C).
