After removing the compression liner, please turn it into its original shape in order to avoid folds
in the compression liner.

Handling of the compression liner:

The wound dressing
The wound and the immediate area around it must be completely covered by
wound dressing. A moist wound treatment (semi occlusive) speeds up the healing
of the wound surface and prevents the invasion of germs (see Fig. 7).
Size determination of the compression liner:
In order to determine the correct compression liner size, please use the diagram on the following
page. The measuring tape must be placed 4 cm above the distal stump end (see Fig. 8).
Adaptation of the compression liner:
Daily measuring of the stump size is an important part of the therapy. The measurements must
be recorded in the chart.
As soon as the oedema regresses, the liner size must be adjusted to the decreasing liner
circumference. This is important in order to always provide an adequate compression to the stump.
During the first weeks of therapy, it is completely normal for the stump to decrease by up to
3 – 4 liner sizes.
Liner size = circumference minus 1 size, depending on the user's acceptance (see Fig. 9).

During the first or second therapy step, please choose the actual measured circumference as
liner size, maximum one liner size smaller. Smaller sizes are not recommended for the first
therapy steps, as the stump may be compressed too much. As soon as the patient is ready to
wear the compression liner daily, it is possible to switch to the next smaller size. For example, if
the actual stump circumference is 36 cm, size 36 of the compression liner should be used and
only later on, size 34. If pain occurs during the therapy or the user complains about too much
compression, the next bigger liner size must be used.
This is also true for very bony or thin stumps. In these special cases, the actual measured size
should be used.
