2.1) Preparation
Select the appropriate connector for the cable cross-section to be used.
Strip the cable to the appropriate length.
Fully insert the conductor into the connector (Fig. 4a).
Insert the connector into the head (Fig. 4b). If necessary, open the head by moving the latch (5)
outwards (Fig. 3), then close the head.
Make sure that the die (1) and latch (5) are fully engaged (Fig. 4c).
For cable lugs, if only one compression is required, position them so that the crimper is in the
centre of the collar (Fig 5a). If two or more compressions are required, follow the sequence (1st,
2nd, etc.) shown in Fig. 5b.
For joint compression, repeat the same procedure on both sides (Fig. 5c).
2.2) Compression
Hold the connector against the upper die (1).
Press the operating button (3) (Fig. 5.) twice in quick succession (within 1 sec.) and hold it down
until the motor automatically switches off. The ram will gradually advance, bringing the indentor
(6) into contact with the connector until correct compression is achieved.
CORRECT COMPRESSION:
After activating, press and hold the button (3) until the motor automatically switches off
to complete the ram stroke.
Incomplete or incorrect compression can, in the long run, lead to the connection over-
heating and possible fire.
Use the correct cable-connector combinations, improper combinations may be incorrectly
crimped.
2.3) Operating button functioning
The tool is equipped with a safety system which prevents accidental start-up if the operating button
(3) is pressed unintentionally:
Starting in stand-by, press the operating button twice (within one second) to activate the tool.
To restart the tool within 180 sec. of the last start-up, simply press it once.
This 'temporary' condition is especially useful when performing sequential compressions and is
indicated by the LEDs (2) remaining lit for 180 sec.
After 180 sec. of inactivity, the LEDs (2) will turn off and the operator must then press the button
twice to start the tool.
