Information for use sera fil bioactive external filters
130, 130 + UV, 250, 250 + UV, 400 + UV
Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use.
Thank you for choosing a sera fil bioactive external
filter.
With this newest generation of external filters, sera
provides crystal clear, biologically clean water in con-
stant quality. Being equipped with the unique filter
medium sera siporax (270 m
liter / US quart) and with sera filter biostart, the filter
becomes immediately active after starting it. Further-
more, the sera fil bioactive + UV external filters reduce
algae growth and pathogens. The sera fil bioactive
external filters are easy to start and to clean. They pro-
vide low energy consumption, quiet operation and a
long lifetime.
1. Water purification as in nature
Coarse particles are collected by the high quality sera
filter mats (floss) in the mechanical prefiltration step.
Pollutants such as ammonium, nitrite and nitrate are
then broken down by micro organisms in the following
biological filtration step. Only a perfect balance be-
tween mechanical and biological filtration, as in these
new, extremely powerful filter systems, guarantees
permanently clear water without much maintenance
effort.
The sera fil bioactive + UV external filters additionally
reduce algae and pathogens, and they remove cloud -
iness. The UV-C lamp is placed inside the filter in a way
that protects the useful filter bacteria against the UV
light and only inactivates pathogens that flow freely in
the water. The disinfection with UV light works merely
physically without using chemicals and has been a
technical standard in drinking water purification for
years.
S FETY PREC UTIONS
Disconnect power/mains plug before every
maintenance at the filter or the aquarium!
For types with UV-C lamp:
W RNING: Dangerous ultraviolet radiation!
To prevent eye damage, never look directly into the
UV-C lamp without protection when it is operating
(eye damage!)

3. ssembly and operation (3)
ssembly
The sera fil bioactive external filters are completely
pre-assembled except for a few items.
3a
Put the multi-purpose valve (3.1) into the hollow
on the filter head (3.2) with the multi-purpose
handle (3.3) directed towards the clip, and press
the multi-purpose handle down.
3b
Push the hoses onto the water intake and outlet
connectors (3.4), then screw the union nuts over
the hose ends until the hoses are firmly fastened.
