water will remain on the espresso
grounds.
- To remove the coffee grounds, hold
the filter sieve in the filter holder
and then gently tap the side of the
holder against a vertical surface.
- Retaining insert for espresso pads
- Inserting the espresso pad:
- Remove the pre-heated filter
holder (Caution: the holder is hot).
- Insert an espresso pad into filter
sieve 'c' (pad sieve).
- Removing the used espresso pad:
- After the brewing cycle is complete,
wait for approximately 10 seconds
until the operating pressure has
been sufficiently reduced.
- Exercise caution when removing
the filter holder: it is hot and may
still contain some hot water. Pour
out the water carefully. Allow the
filter holder to cool down briefly.
- To remove the used espresso pad,
hold the filter sieve in the filter
holder and then gently tap the side
of the holder against a vertical
surface.
Drip tray
The tray must be fitted whenever the
espresso maker is switched on.
The water level in the tray must be carefully
monitored and always emptied in good
time. Do not remove the drip tray unless
the appliance has been switched off and has
had sufficient time to cool down.
To remove the tray, pull it away from the
appliance and lift it out.
Preparation
Espresso
- Fill the container with water.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet
and use the On/Off switch to turn the
appliance on. The main red indicator
light comes on.
- Preheat the filter holder and the cup(s).
- Remove the filter holder, fill with
ground coffee and re-attach it.
- Place the cup(s) underneath the outlets.
- Turn the valve selector control to the
position. The espresso is now
delivered straight into the cup(s)
- Once the cup(s) are filled, turn the valve
selector control to its neutral position to
switch the pump off.
- Wait for approximately 10 seconds
before detaching the filter holder and
removing the coffee grounds.
- The espresso maker is now ready for
another brewing cycle.
Dispensing hot water
- Insert the filter holder with the filter
sieve, but without putting any ground
coffee in.
- Position a cup underneath the outlet
openings.
- Turn the valve selector control to the
position.
- Once the desired quantity of water has
been collected, turn the valve selector
control to its neutral position to switch
the pump off.
Note: this procedure is also used for
'bleeding' the system.
Dispensing steam
This appliance is designed to dispense
steam for heating up milk or other
beverages through the steam nozzle, and
also for the frothing of milk when making
cappuccino. To dispense steam, turn the
valve selector control to the
Steam will be emitted after a brief heating-
period.
To ensure that the boiler outlet is safely
covered, the filter holder and sieve should
be fitted when steam is being dispensed.
- Making cappuccino
Generally, cappuccino is made using
espresso, hot milk and milk froth in
equal parts. For cappuccino, bigger cups
