4. Preparations before Startup

Caution
 Preparation before startup must be performed while the engine is not in operation. If the engine is
running, accidents or injuries may result.
 Checking/adding oil
Caution
 Before checking or adding oil, be sure the machine is located on a flat, level surface. If not, oil may
be overfilled or shortage may occur. If oil amount is low, pump failure occurs.
 This product has been shipped without oil in the engine and pump. Be sure to fill engine oil before
use.
 Tighten the oil filler cap and the engine oil gauge. If they remain loose, oil may leak out.
 Use engine oil SAE10W-30 of grade SE or higher.
 Checking/adding oil to the pump
 When using the machine for the first time, fill oil to
the red mark at the center of the oil gauge.
MSW1012(CE),1017(CE) --- Approx. 0.3 liter
MSW1515(CE) --- Approx. 0.4 liter
* Adding oil excessively may cause oil to spill out
from the oil filler cap during operation. Do not fill oil
excessively.
[1] Check if oil is filled to the red mark at the center of
the oil gauge.
[2] If the oil level is low, add new oil.
 If the oil is dirty or significantly discolored, it should
be changed.
For the timing and method of oil change, refer to
p. 22.
[3] After oil filling, securely tighten the oil filler cap.
 Checking/adding oil to the engine
 When using the machine for the first time, fill oil to the engine.
MSW1012(CE),1017(CE) (Robin EX170, 210) --- Approx. 0.6 liter
MSW1515(CE) (Robin EX270) --- Approx. 1.0 liter
[1] Check if the oil level is above the lower limit.
[2] If the oil level is low, add up to the upper level with the new oil.
 If the oil is dirty or significantly discolored, should be change.
 For details, read the engine instruction manual carefully.
[3] After oil filling, securely tighten the oil gauge.
Caution
 The engine has an oil sensor. The engine will stop automatically when the oil level falls below the
safety limit. Fill the crankcase with oil up to the proper level.
