Long-term Storage

 If the machine will not be used for long periods of time, provide care and cleaning by following the
procedures below.
Danger
 If there is fuel remaining in the fuel tank, it may cause a fire. Fuel may also degrade and cause
difficulty starting the engine the next time. Be sure to drain fuel.
 To prevent fire, stop the engine before draining fuel and keep the machine away from fire sources.
Also, drain fuel in a well-ventilated place.
 Store fuel in containers specifically designed for this purpose. Store fuel in a cool, well-ventilated
area, keep away from spark and/or flame-producing equipment.
Caution
 Oil degrades naturally. Change oil regularly even if the machine is not in use.
 For the engine, read the engine instruction manual carefully.
1. Check the items specified in "Startup Inspection" (p. 15) and "Maintenance and Inspection" (p. 22).
2. Service problem locations beforehand.
3. Drain water from the pump (idling).
* Do not keep the engine idle for more than 1 minute to protect the pump.
Refer to 1 to 3 in "After Work" (p. 21).
4. Thoroughly wipe off excess and soiling on the water suction hose, high-pressure hose and spray gun,
and then store them together with the machine with care to not let mud and dirt come into the
connection parts.
5. In winter, fully drain water from the pump and keep the water drain/air bleeder knob open to prevent
damage caused by freezing.
6. Drain fuel from the fuel tank and carburetor.
* To drain fuel from the fuel tank, remove the fuel cup, place a container, etc., and then open the fuel
valve to discharge fuel. To drain fuel from the carburetor, loosen the drain screw and discharge fuel
into a container. Drain fuel in a well-ventilated place without any fire sources.
7. Clean the fuel cup and reinstall securely to prevent leakage, and then close the fuel valve.
8. Inspect/clean the air cleaner.
9. Change the pump oil and engine oil.
10. Slowly pull the recoil starter handle until resistance is felt and leave it in that position. This prevents
outside air (humid air) from entering the engine.
11. Use sand paper, etc., to scrape off rust in areas of peeled coating, and then apply coating material.
12. Clean the exterior of the machine and polish thoroughly using a cloth moistened with oil to prevent rust.
13. Put the machine in a box, etc., and store it in a well-ventilated indoor location subject to minimum
humidity.
