Instructions for how to lift from wheelchair to bed
1. Lower the bed to a low position, or to a similar height as the chair. Make sure the beds brakes are on.
2. Lock the wheelchair brakes.
3. Adjust the lift in position to the wheelchair, make sure the legs of the lift are spread and placed evenly around
the wheelchair, and that none of the lift legs are under the wheelchair.
4. Lower the lift arm to position for the loops to be attached to the slingbar. Always hold one hand on the slingbar
while lowering so it does not hit the patient. Ensure the sling bar hangs freely without touching anything.
5. Apply the top loops of the sling to the sling bar first, and the bottom loops second. Check that the loops are
correctly placed.
6. Check that the slingbar is securely in position onto the liftarm.
7. Start lifting the liftarm upwards using the handcontrol and then make a safety stop to make sure nothing is
stuck (slingbar, slings, clothes or limbs of the patient). Make also sure that the sling is still properly attached to the
slingbar, and that the slingbar is properly attached to the liftarm.
8. Proceed with the lift of patient out of the chair, only lift to the height needed and always lift as low as possible.
During the lift make sure that the patient is not hanging on to or pushing the slingbar.
9. Roll back the chair so the lift can move freely.
10. Adjust the legs of the lift to the normal (narrow) position, in order to fit under the bed.
11. Start making the rotation of the lift by putting one foot onto the front of the leg of lift to make the lift turn
easier.
12. Turn the lift over the bed slowly until the patient is over the bed.
13. Lift the patients legs to the bed and twist the patient to the right position.
14. Lower the lift arm until the lift slings are loose, always hold one hand on the sling bar while lowering so
it does not hit the patients head.
15. Unhook the slings from the sling bar and back the lift away from the bed.
