Intended use

The SCT 17 is a camera-based alignment system for the
adjustment devices SCT 415 and SCT 416. The SCT 17
replaces the line laser P-Assist S5. The SCT 17 is used
to position adjustment devices in front of the vehicle in
such a way that front camera systems can be calibra‐
ted. For the calibration of front camera systems, manu‐
facturer-specific calibration boards and calibration
software such as ESI[tronic] 2.0 are required addition‐
ally.

For the calibration of front camera systems, a calibra‐
tion board must be aligned with the front of the vehicle

Distance measurement using the camera and refer‐
ence board
The camera and reference board are used for distance
measurement. The camera measures the distance of
the adjustment device from the reference board.

Usually, the distance between the adjustment device
and the vehicle is measured from the wheel hub or
bumper to calibrate front camera systems. Conse‐
quently, the reference board on the alignment aid must
be placed at the same height as the wheel hub or
bumper. This is specified in the manufacturer-specific
short instructions and ESI[tronic] 2.0.
