IO-Link interface (continued)
The Teach-in process has a time limit of 2 minutes. Each
new command restarts this time window.
The start point is temporarily stored and can be overwritten
as often as desired. The end point can be set after the
start point.
A reply for the Teach-in process is indicated by the LED
and the status register.
If Teach-in mode is enabled the LED will flash slowly:
– Green (Target is within the original linearity range)
– Red (Target is outside the original linearity range)
Teach-in commands are confirmed for about 2 seconds by
rapidly flashing green (OK) or red (error) LEDs. After the
start position is stored the LED flashes red since the end
position cannot be set in the vicinity of the start point.
The Teach-in status can be read as an ISDU (Indexed
Service Data Unit) from Index 0xCA and looks as follows:

The Status section informs about the result of the last
Teach-in command:
Status Meaning
0 No Teach-in process
1 Start position is stored
4 End position is stored and waiting for APPLY
command
7 Error (e.g. target outside the possible teach
area)
14 Teach-in completed successfully

New linearity range is not enabled until the APPLY
command is sent.
The new offset and slope value of the characteristic curve set
by the teach-in can be read out (see Tab. 6-6 on page 13).
